will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention has for its objects to provide a wrist blotter which may be quickly and easily applied to the users wrist and held yieldably in place thereon by the action of a resilient C-clip, said clip being provided with a forwardly extending finger to support the blotter in horizontal position.
With the foregoing object in view, the invention resides in the novel construction hereinafter fully described and claimed, the descriptive matter being supplemented by the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this application and in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the blotter applied;
Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective removed, partly broken away and in section;
Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse section; and
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the wrist clip and its blotter supporting finger.
In the drawing above briefly described, the numeral 1 designates a blotter back preferably formed of leather and of two ply con struction, said back being provided at its fou corners with pockets 2 or with other preferred means for securing the blotter 3 in place. A one piece C-clip 4 is provided to yieldably embrace the users wrist, the ends of said clip being preferably turned outwardly as shown at 5 for ease in applying and removing the device. Centrally between its ends, the clip 4 is provided with an integral forwardly extending finger 6 positioned between the two plies of the blotter back 1, whereby to support the latter in horizontal position.
Joined centrally at its front edge to the central portion of the blotter back 1, at the rear edge of the latter, is a covering strip 7 for one side of the C clip 4, a similar covering 8 being provided for the other side of said strip. The edges of the two coverings 7 and 8 are shown stitched together at 9 around the edges of the clip, and it will thus be seen that there will be no danger whatever of scratching the wrist upon the metal or other material of which the strip is formed. The resilient clip has been found to retain the blotter in place much more effectively than a wrist band, even though the latter may be reinforced, and the reinforcement provided with a finger such as 6. The reinforcement has been prone to permit the finger to sag, thus allowing the blotter to assume an inclined position, but when the finger is formed on a C-clip which snugly engages the users wrist, no sagging whatever of said finger and consequently no inclination of the blotte is permitted.
Since probably the best results are obtained from the exact details shown and described, they are preferably employed, but I wish it understood that within the scope of the invention as claimed, numerous minor changes may well be made.
I claim:
In a wrist blotter, a C-clip of resilient material adapted to yieldably embrace the users wrist, a blotter supporting finger joined to and extending forwardly from said clip, a blotter back against which said finger is secured, a covering strip for one side of said clip joined centrally at its front edge to the rear edge of said blotter back, and a second covering strip fo the other side of said clip, the edges of the two strips being stitched together around the edges of said clip.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
HARLAND W. CARDWELL.
