TOY PROPELLER-TOP.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, PHILIP J orrn, of New York, vin the county of New York, and in the State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Toy Propeller-Tops, and do hereby declare that the ollowing is a full, clear, and exact descrip'- tion thereof.
My invention relates to able se f-elevating propeller adapted to be released from the splnning top when the top lution as obtained from the spinning top before it becomes detached therefrom.

In the embodiment of my invention chosen for purposes .of illustration, reference numeral l indicates a spinning top ofA any desired material and construction such as the ordinary well known wooden top. An open'- ing 2 is provided at the bottom thereof for the peg 3. The opening and the portion of the vpe tting therein maybe of any desired s ape, the drawing showing a square opening w1th a peg havmg a corresponding square portion to fit therein. The fit of the peg inf'its opening preferably is sufficiently tight to prevent the peg dropping therefrom but not too tight to prevent its longitudmal movement for a purpose to be hereinafter described. p
The top of the spinning top is rovlded with 'a recess 4 in which is adapte to fit a stem`5 of aI self-elevating propeller 6. The propeller may be of any suitable construction, of any desired material, and with any desired number of blades. A two bladed propeller is illustrated made of sheet metal in well known manner. The blades may be of diiferent colors to add attractiveness to the toy. In operation the stem 5 of the self-elevating propeller is. inserted in its recess 4 which causes peg 3 to protrude from the bottom of the top. The top, being wound with a string in ordinary manner, is thrown on the ground to cause it t0 spin. This spinning movement is imparted to the ropeller and as the top strikes the ground t e peg is forced into the top, thereby releasing the propeller which flies into the air at various heights according to the skill of the spinner.
