rnnAsUnn-caanma;
Application flled May 16, 1
To all whom it may concern:
Be it lmown that I, JOHN S. YERGASON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the cit of New York, borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Treasure-Carrier, of which the-following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved treasure carrier, more especially designed to 'be .worn underneath the outer garments by sailors, soldiers, travelers and other persons, and arranged to enable the wearer to securely store valuables, money, documents and other articles and to carry the same on his body, thus reducing the danger of the articles eing abstracted by unauthorized persons to a minimum. Another object is to enable the wearer to readily gain access to the ockets in which the valuables are stored. Xnother object is to provide a carrier which is simple and durable in construction, very light and comfortable and not liable to obstruct or hinder, the movement-of the arms or other parts of the wearers body.
With theseand other objects in view, the invention consists of certain'novel features of construction as hereinafter shown and described and then specifically pointed out in the claims. I
practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is a front perspective view of the carrier as worn by a sailor;
Fig. 2 is a rear perspective view of the same; and
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the carrier.
The carrier is supported from the shoulders of the wearer, and for this purpose use is 10 crossed at the provided at the front with two large pockets 12 for storing valuables, money, documents or the like, each pocket having a closing flap 13 adapted to be locked in closed position on the front of the corresponding pocket by a suitable fastening device 14, such as a button and buttonhole.
e two pockets 12 are connected with Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 7, 1919. 918. Serial No. 234,912.
each other bybuckle straps 15 and :16, of which the buckle strap 15 is practically a continuation of front u per portion of the wearer and t e entrances to the poo ets are within convenient reach of the wearer reaching under a blouse, vest, coat or similar outer garment to gain access to the desired pocket and the contents thereof without first discarding such garment or even opening the same.
djacent the main pockets 12 and attached to the band 11 are pockets 20 for storing smaller articles especially such as are not frequently used, and each of these pockets 20 is provided with a closing flap 21 having fastening devices 22 for holding the fiapnormally locked in closed position. Small pockets 25 for the storing of securi ties .or similar articles are arranged on the front of the main pockets 12 and these pockets 25 are provided with closing flaps 26 having fastening devices 28 for keepingthe flaps normally locked in closed position. It will be noticed that by providing each of the pockets with a closing flap the contents of the pockets are not liable to. be accidentally lost outof the pockets.
The carrier shown and described is very simple in construction and provides ample storage room for valuables, money, papers, securities and similar articles, and as the carrier is practically continually in position on the body of the wearer, the articles are not liable to be abstracted by unauthorized persons.
It will also be noticed that the carrier is very light and hence does not unduly burden the wearer. If desired, can be readily attached to th convenient member thereof thus serving as an identification means of the wearer.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A carrier,
e carrier at any an identification tag Q memes? means connecting the lower ends of the pockets and means connecting the upper ends of said pockets.
2. A carrier, comprising shoulder straps, a hack band to which the rear ends of the shoulder straps are secured, pockets of greater depth than the Width of the band and attached at their lower ends to said band, whereby the pockets will extend above the band upon the body of the wearer the front ends of the shoulder straps being attached to the upper ends of the pockets, and spaced front buckle straps connecting the lower and upper portions of the pockets with each other.
3. A carrier, comprising shoulder straps,
a back band to which the rear ends of the shoulder straps are secured, pockets of a depth greater than the Width of the band and attached at their lower ends to the band, whereby the pockets will extend above the band upon the body of the wearer, the front ends of the shoulder straps being attached to the upper ends of the pockets, small pockets on the band adjacent to the rear edges of the first named pockets, and buckle straps connecting the upper and lower portions of the larger pockets.
