To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JAMES DANIEL TENNI- soN, citizen of the United States of America, residing at Texarkana, in the county of Miller and State of Arkansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ridge-Roll Starters, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in what is known in the art as a ridge roll starter.

In applying ridge rolls, the ends must be closed or capped to make a finish and to keep out the elements. Such means now employed fail to make the proper finish, and are difiicult of application.

The object of this invention is to provide a neat and effective metal cap or roll starter, capable of application to any angle of roof, and therefore capableof being bent to fit various angles.

The invention also comprehends improvements in the details of construction, which will be hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claims.

1 indicates conventionally an ordinary ridge roll, applied to a slanting roof 2. At the end of the ridge roll is shown the improved metal ridge roll starter 3.

The ridge roll starter comprises a central tapered semi-cylindrical portion 4, open at its large end to overlap the ridge roll 1. Extending laterally from the tapered semicylindrical portion are two wings 5-5, semi-circular in plan view, and adapted to be bent at various angles, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 4.

The small end of the semi-cylindrical port1on 4 merges into the normal horizontal plane of lateral wings 5, as shown, and adjacent the juncture of the merging point and the wings the metal is slightly fluted, as at 6, to reinforce the structure.

In use, the enlarged open end of the semicylindrical body portion is fitted over the end of the ridge roll, and the opposite end lies on the roof. The wings 55 are then bent to accommodate the angle of the roof and are secured to the latter in any appropriate manner.

It will be seen that the starting point of the ridge roll when using this invention, presents a neat and finished appearance, and at the same time the ends of the roll will be efiectively sealed to protect same against the elements. Furthermore, by making the starter of metal the wings can be bent to suit any angle or crevice appearing adjacent the starting of the ridge roll which is quite an important factonfrom a practical standpoint.

What I claim is 1. A metal ridge roll comprising a central bendable tapered hollow body portion open at one end, and bendable lateral wings extending therefrom, the small end of the tapered hollow body portion being substantially closed and merging into the lateral wings.

2. A metal ridge roll comprising a central tapered hollow body portion open at one end, and bendable lateral wings extending therefrom, the small end of the tapered hollow body portion substantially closed and merging into the lateral wings, the metal adjacent the merging point being fluted to reinforce the structure.
