. ticularly to shuttles, the said invention having for its object the provision of novel means for facilitatin the threading of the shuttle of the type il ustrated in the drawing which is known as the Dandy shuttle,

It has been the common practice to operate the thread hook through the shuttle eye, but in the present invention, the threader or hook is made operable in conjunction with the pot eye of a shuttle.

A further object'of this invention is to provide novel means for guiding the hook into position so that the thread can be readilyapplied to the threading implement or hook and pulled through the pot eye as will be readily understood by those skilled in the art. A further object of this invention is to provide a guide in such relation to the shuttle that it will not interfere with operating,

parts of the shuttle or materially increase the cost of same. j

With the foregoing and other objects 1n view, theinvention consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully set forth and claimed.

In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawingsforming part of this specification wherein like characters denote corresponding parts in the several views, and in which- Figure 1 illustrates a plan view of a fragment of a shuttle, being partly in horizontal section;

Fig. 8 illustrates a horizontal sectional view of a fragment of the shuttle body showing one embodiment of the invention; and

Fig. 4 illustrates a similar view embodying a modification.

In these drawings 5 denotes the shuttle body, 6 the bobbin recess thereof, and 7 the pot eye. At the reduced portion of the bobbin recess, one wall thereof issupplied with a shoulder 8 which in its constructionwmay be integral with the bobbin body or it may comprise a block 9 vsecured to the surface of the bobbin body, the particular requirements being that the edge which faces the 1 ate1naa1 Jan.. a, 1919.

pot eye is inclined rearwardly so that a threading implement 10 if inserted in the pot eye comes in contact with the inclined surface of the shoulder and the said inclined surface guides it upwardly so that it Will pass above the upper surface of the shuttle .where the thread can be applied to it, thus making it possible toI facilitate the threading of a bobbin by the tool since the tool can be withdrawn from the pot eye.

In the modification illustrated in Fig. 4, I

have produced the inclined shoulder by an-` A choring a lplate 12 in the bobbin body and having a flange 11 extend outwardly from the edge of the bobbin body, the saidilange i being concaved so that the threading implement will strike the iiangeand ride up the surface thereof just as it4 'will ride up the shoulder heretofore described.

I claim- 1. In a shuttle, a shuttle body havinga bobbin recess and a .pot eye extending longitudinally of the shuttle and entering. the end of the recess, a shoulder extending outwardly from the side of the recess facing the pot eye, and offset with relation to *the axis of .said eye, said shoulder being inclined rearwardly to form a camming surface and hav'- ing its camming surface grooved and adapted to engage a' threading implement forv guiding the said threading implement be yond the end of\ the bobbin and above thesurface of the shuttle.
