In the use and ope 'ation of the bumper above described and when an impact is de livered to the'outer'bar '2. the latter will 'vield toward the bar 1. at the same time increasingl the tension on the springs 9. which together with the bumper springs positioned between each pair of toggle links will absorb and dissipate the force of the impact.
