Application filed July 6, 1917. Serial No. 179,044.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, TONY LEON, a subject of the Czar of Russia, resident of Worcester, county of l/Vorcester, and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Non-Refillable Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in bottles or like containers in which it is desired to prevent refilling or substitution of the contents.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a device, which, having once been filled, will permit the contents to be removed but prevents the refilling of the bottle.
A further object is to provide such forms which are so built into the neck of the bottle, as to eiiectually prevent tampering with the contents, and finally, to provide such means in forms which may be removed at will after use, so that the bottle may be used in the ordinary manner.
These and other like objects are attained by the novel construction and combination of parts hereafter described and shown in the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of this disclosure, and in which,-

In the drawing, the numeral 10 is applied to a bottle of conventional type, the same being formed with a neck 11 and mouth 12, the same having a conical entrance 14, terminating in a chamber 15, having beveled upper walls 16, while in the chamber are a plurality of angularly disposed integrally formed lugs 18, extending inward from the side walls of the neck 11, and having an open central space 19 therebetween.
The bottom of the lugs 18 terminatein abrupt abutments 20, below which is a further enlarged chamber 21, slightly conical in cross-section and adapted to loosely contain a valve 23, provided with a beveled head 24 and depending stem 25 adapted to extend downward into the body of the bot tle 10, while the body portion 23, rests in a seat 26, the beveled portion 24 being suited to a similarly shaped annular opening 27, in the bottle neck but in such manner as to move when the bottle is reversed.
Formed through the upper portion of the valve are a plurality of small open slots 28, the same being filled with a suitable cement 30, so as to be water-tight, the central portion 31 continuing through from the stem to the head, which is partially separated from the stem by an annular recess 32 as can best be seen in Figs. 4 and 5.
The entire valve structure may be made of any suitable material, and held suspended at the time the body of the bottle is molded, the plug being so loosely held that it may be moved against the abutments 20 when the bottle is in an inverted position, the head 24 partially covering the opening but allowing the contents of the bottle to be slowly poured out.
When the bottle is in a normal position, as shown in Fig. 1, the passage through the neck is covered by the valve in such manner as to prevent liquid from being entered into the bottle body.
If it is desired to remove the valve the same can be accomplished by inserting a metal rod, striking the top of the valve sharp blows, causing the same to break so that the segmental elements of the head portions 23 and 24 may pass outward through the opening 19 in the bottle neck as may also the stem 25, permitting the bottle to be used in the ordinary manner.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is,-
