WOOD-CUTTER.

To all whom it may concern: I

Be itknown that I, SAMUEL WEBSTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Clayton, in the county of Saint Louis and State of Missouri, have invented new and useful Improvements in Wood-Cutters, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to an improvement in wood cutting devices.

' The invention is primarily directed to a means for cutting cord wood into stove size blocks and includes a buck or support for a log having a detachable saw associated therewith which is adjustable so that the wood can be out thereby without the removal thereof from the buck or support, the device being of a foldable nature, easily collapsed into a small package when not required for use.

A further object of the invention is to pro duce a device of this character which will expedite the cutting of'wood into logs and render the same less laborious than by the usual manner employed. 25

The buck or log support includes end men1- hers arranged in pairs each of an equal length and width. Each pair of members comprising the ends lap one over the other and are pivotally connected as at The legs 66 are connected, adj acent their lowe 1 ends by transverse strips 7 and arelihewise connected below their pivots 5 by similar strips 8. In addition to these strips the outer leg members have secured upon their center thereof are the lower ends of arms outer edges, below the strips 8, a strip or plate 9, and this plate, upon its upper edge is provided with two spaced notches 19 re spectively. To the inner edge of the inner leg member 6, opposite the plate 9 is secured a plate 11 which is wider than the plate 9' and which is provided with openings 12 r spectively disposed opposite the I'BSPBGHYQ notches 10 in the plate 9. The openings in the plate 12 are raised a consider-able distance below the notches- 10 in the plate 9.

The lever may be provided with spaced transverse openings 22 any of which receiving a device 23 to whichis connected the inner end of a saw blade 24. The bar 16 is designed to have its pointed end 17 arranged in one of the openings 12 in the plate 11 and its notch received in the notch 10 in the plate 9 opposite the said opening 12. The

Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:

In a. log cutting device, as herein described, the combination with a buck comprising pivoted legs and pivoted arms between the upper portions of said legs, plates secured to the legs below the pivots therefor,
