Be it known that we, EDWARD and EDWARD O. EmcsoN, citizens of the United States, residing at Akron, in the county of Summit and State of Ohio, have invented new andmseful Improvements in Electric-Light Handles, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to handles for portable lights and aims to provide a handle which is easily applied and secured against accidental displacement and which will profrom shocks.

A' further object is to provide a flexible handle which will insure a perfect grip and likewise prevent changin of the wire insulation, thus guarding agalnst breaking of the wires.

For the accomplishment of the above and other objects which will appear when the following description is read, the invention includes a flexible rubber tube adapted to receive the conductor wires of the lam the tube being formed with an enlarge end capable of being stretched and tightly fitted over a lamp socket. The tube is further provided with a slot for the passage of the switch button, the free end 0 the enlarged portion being secured upon the socket by means of a clam which may form part of a wire guard with which these lamps are usually e nipped.

The invention is shown as applied to a lamp socket of ordinary construction, the said socket being indicated at 10 and having connected therewith a bulb 11.

The handle which comprises the subject matter of the present invention is preferably formed of flexible rubber and includes a T. CLARK apparent.

The handle is secured in'position by a suitable clamp extending around the enlarged portion in a manner to securely hold the same upon the socket. Any suitable clamp may be employed for this purpose, but

it is preferred to utilize the one shown. It consists of the clamp 17 which is carried by a wire lamp guard 18 of the kind usually employed for the protection of the bulb. This provides a simple and efficient means of securing the handle and guard in position. as lamps of this character are seldom used without a guard.

Also the slot 15 may extend to the end of the enlarged portion 13, or it may be closed at this end as shown in the drawings, this latter form of slot being preferable. It is also obvious that some suitable portion may be substituted for rubber, the'basic idea being to provide a handle which may be easily secured upon the socket for the purpose to provide a manner for handling the lamp and at the same time to protect the insulation of the conductor wires.
