To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD C. MARQUA, a. citizen of' the United Sta-tes, residing kat Kansas City, in the county ofdackson and State of Missouri, have invented certain new anch useful Improvements in Collapsible Forms for Concrete Construction'- Work; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others: skilled in the art to which it appertains to make andl use the same, reference beingf had toc the accompanying. drawings, and to the letters and iigures of reference marked thereon, which forma part of this'y specification.
My invention relatesto collapsible forms for concrete construction work, and more particularly todome forms used inthe mak-` ing of concrete floors or the like,.wherein the forms are arranged along supporting soiiits to form a mold for the floor rand supporting joists; the principal.l object of the invention being to providean improved form of this character provided with easily adjustable means for retaining the collapsible sections inv functional relation while in use, and which may be easily and quickly removedr to permit collapsing of the, parts when it is desired to remove the form from theinished work.
In accomplishing this object, I have provided improved details of structure the preferred forms of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure I is a perspective view of a concrete iioor in the course of construction, particularly illustrating the arrangement of the dome on a supporting structure to form the iioor and joist mold.
Fig. II is a transverse section of a portion of'a floor showing one of they forms locked in= functional position, and an adjacent dome collapsed' to permit its removal from the floor.
Fig; III is a detail perspective view of one of the dome forms, partsof which are broken away forbetter illustrating a tie member.
Fig. IV is a longitudinal verticaly section of a portion of a form.
Referring more in detail to the drawings:

within the dome and spaced from the ends thereof to support the sections apart and to .hold the side and top members in functional either the top or the sides may be made up of several separate pieces, and that the pieces of each top andy side member may be rigidly and permanently connected by transverse battens 6 7 adjacent the opposite ends of the sections. The battens 6 not only serve to stiifen the body members to which they are connected, but also serve to carry hinges 8 whereby the top and side members are connected.
The preferred arrangement of the hinged parts is that wherein the edges of the top members 3 3 overlie and are supported by the upper edges of the side members 1 -4f', and the arrangement being further such as that when the members are extended in functional position, the sides H will extend at a slight obtuse angle to each other to taper the floor beam and brace the dome members against collapse.
As the widths ofloor arches vary, we
adapt the dome for such varying Widths by providing inserts 9 that are adapted to fill in between .the spaced edges of the top plates 3 3 and which are of the same thickness as said top in orderto form a. smooth upper surface thereacross and obviate unevenness in the tops ofthe arches and thickness of the slabs. These inserts are adapted for support on the tops of the diaphragme 5, and their width may be varied according to the space desiredy 'between the floory beams..
In order to rigidly support and; space the` paired side sections of the dome, when the latter isfin use,r we provide the interior transverse diaphragms 5,- which are adapted for abutting against opposite sides 3 3 and for seating on shoulders 10 on the inner edgesvofthesidebattens 7. The ends of the diaphragms are inclined to correspond with the sideA faces .of the side members and it closely and snugly thereagainst when the diaphragme are set, and are held in place` by tiefmembers 12'; each tie member comprising, two lengths of spring wire, twisted to-k gether at theirfcenters as at 13so as to leave upper and lower strands VILL- 15 diverging in opposite directions from the twisted portlon.

The diaphragme may then be lifted from the shouldered battons to alle the side sections to be closed together and removed from the Worlr.

The domes are then placed on the soiit` boards and bridge the space 'therebetiveen, the lower edge orp the side members e-e resting on the tops oi3 the soiiit boards adjacent the edges thereof, so that not only' is the space between adjacent sodit boards covered bv the arch oi the domes, but there is space lett between the side members ot edjace domes Within which the door beams Q3 of the :door slab 2e is formed when the concrete is poured, the domes being arranged on the sothtboards in longitudinal alinement across thespace to be tioored so that continuous arches and door beams may7 be termed.
iith the domes arranged in this manner, the concrete is poured therebetween to form the beams and thereover to desired depth to forni 'the slab. lllhen the end beams have been formed about and over the domes., and the concrete is set sufhciently to permit the domes to be removed, he body sections 2-2 are separated by lirst removing the tie members l2 as previouslydescribed, and removing the diaphragme 5 so that there is no support for the hinged top members and inserts that would prevent the inward collapse of the sides. rlhe top members are then pulled dotvnwardlgT on their hinges to separate the same from the bottom ot the slab and the sides el 'i' are then drawn awayY from the sides ot the door beam, so that the mold members may be removed from the slab and from the somt without disturbinothe sotiit.
By constructing` the domes in this manner, and b v pro riding; diaphragms and tie members ot various standard lengthsit is apparent that the same dome members mayv be used to constructditle ent floors wherein the beams are spaced either close or farther as is desired.

Having thus described my invention, what claim as new therein, and desire to secure b v Letters-Patent is:
i. in a dome for concrete structures conm prising opposite side members, battons iiXed in paired relation to said side members, diaphragnis supported at their opposite ends between the side members and removable tie members extending between the side members to retain the diaphragms and side members in functional relation.

A dome for concrete structures comprising pairedside members, top members hinged to the said side members and having downwardly open-ing sockets adjacent their hinged edges, battens fixed to the inner faces of the side members in paired relation and having upwardly facing shoulders thereon provided with upwardly opening sockets, diaphragme extending between the side members and seated at their opposite ends on said shoulders to abut. the side and support the top members, and tie members extended between the side'members, adjacent the diaphragms and comprising hooked ends removably seated in said sockets in the top members and on the shoulders at opposite sides of the dome, to retain the diaphragms on the shoulders and the top and side members in functional position.
A dome for concrete structures comprising paired side members and top members hinged to the said side members and provided with downwardly opening sockets adjacent their hinged edges, battonsy fixed to the inner faces of the side members in paired relation and having upw-ardly facing shoulders provided with upwardly opening sockets, diaphragms extending between the side members and seated at their opposite ends on said shoulders to abut the side and support the top members, and tie members extended between the side members comprising paired spring Wires twisted together at. their centers with the free ends diverging from each other in opposite directions, and having out-turned hooks at their ends yieldingly retained in paired sockets in the said shoulders and top members adjacent the outer faces of the diaphragms to retain the diaphragms in functional position on the shoulders.
6. In a dome of the character described comprising separate side lsect-ions having paired sockets and diaphragms extending between the side sections, tie members extended between the side sections, comprising paired spring wires twisted together at their centers with their Vfree ends diverging from each other in opposite directions, and having` out-turned hooks at their ends yieldingly seated in paired sockets at opposite sides of the sections for the purpose set forth.
