Be it known that I, HUDSONv Z. Losnxi', a citizen of the United States, and residlng at White Plains, in the county of .Westchester and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drapery-Supports, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which 1t appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to drapery supports particularly designed for use in connection with windows whereby curtains, draperies and the like may be suspended from the top portion of a window frame, and the object of the invention is to provide a simple Abracket device which is preferably composed Vof sheet metal and which may be connected with the top portion of the sides of a window frame and with which one or more drapery oles or rods may be detachably connectedI.)

The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure 1 is a plan view of one side of a window frame, indicating one ofl my improved bracket devices connected therewith and indicating the window frame in section Fig. 2 a section on the line 2 2 Fig. 3 a pers ctive view of the attaching bracket which employ; and,

In Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawing I have indicated at a the upper right hand corner of a window frame and, in the practice of my invention, I preferably secure to the of Fig. 1;

side members a2 of the frame adjacent to the top member a3 thereof, a plurality of spaced screws or other headed attaching devices b, one of which is shown in Fig. 2 with which my improved bracket device c may be detachably connected.

The bracket device c is preferably composed of sheet metal bent to form an elongated back portion c2 and an approximately rectangular side portion es which extends at right angles to the back portion c2 and the top edge of which is folded downwardly as shown at c4 to reinforce the top part of the .be readily rectangular side portion c". The back c2 1s provided with two spaced apertures c h aving upwardly directed reduced extensions c". The slde portionV c with vertically arranged apertures c. rov1ded at the top thereof with elongate or enlarged apertures cs which are approximately rectangular in form as indicated in Fig.- l of the drawing.

.In attaching the bracket device c to the w1ndow frame, the screws or other attaching devices b are first secured to the window frame a a predetermined distant apart, after which the bracket device c is placed 1n position by passing the heads of the attahing devices b through the apertures c and moving said device downwardly as will understood and, as clearly indicated in Fig. 2. l

I also employ a drapery pole or rod d, one or more of which may be employed, and two of which are shown in nected with the end portions of said pole or rod d are elongated headmembers e formed from sheet metal bent centrally to form said head members c, and the ends e2 of which are bent outwardly and are connected with the ends of the pole or -rod by an in'closing sleeve f, and between the elongated head members and the ends e2 l e, and in attaching a pole orl rod with the bracket device c the neck portion e3 and elongated head members e on the ends of said pole or rod are passed downwardly through the apertures cB and c", and las clearly indicated in Fig. 1 the neck portions fitting snugly within the apertures e7 and'by reason of the elongated head portions ejthe pole or rod is held against displacement.

It will be understood that my invention is not limited to the number of poles or rods employed in connection with my improved bracket, nor to the particular form and construction ofthe head portion e on the end of the pole or rod d, and various changes in and modifications of the construction herein shown and described may be made, within the scope of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing its advantages.

Having fully described my invention, what Iv claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

plate member and a side plate member, the back plate member being provided with a plurality or spaced apertures having upwardly directed and reduced extensions and the side plate member being provided at the top thereof with an outwardly and downwardly directed reinforcing portion in the top of which are apertures having reduced extensions which extend downwardly into the side plate member.

2. A bracket device for the purpose described, comprising a body portion L-shaped in cross section and consisting of a back plate member and a side plate member, the back plate member being provided with a plurality of spaced apertures having upwardly directed and reduced extensions and the side plate member being provided at the :casarse top thereof with an outwardly and downwardly directed reinforcing portion in the top ofwhich are apertures having reduced extensions which extend downwardly into the side plate member, and a pole the end portions of which are provided with elongated heads having reduced necks and adapted to be passed downwardly through said apertures into the reduced extensions thereof.
