In cording 01' braiding, the braid is first passed under the hook g, thenee into the slot, und then t0 the needle, which must pierce it; every stitch, as shown in the seetional view, Fig. 6.

The othen operations 0f sewing in insert-ions, stitching wide hems, &c. will readily be understood by the experienced sewing-machine operator, who will appreciate the saving 0f 1abor and. time expended in basting rendered necessary with the various attaehments heretofore used, as W811 as the economy of the device in question, which enables several kinds 0f work 130 be done by ib, whieh hitherto usually required speeial attachrnents for each.

What I e1aim 'as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The presser-foot F und. tongue-plate F, 0011- structed as described, and provided with the hook g, slot h, and needle-hole z, when combined with the plate D and folder E, all being construeted substantially as described, and adapted. both as a braider and tucker.
