I Be it known that I, WI H, *BARLOW, a citizen of the United States, residing at Goldfield, the county of. Esmeralda and State of Nevada, have invented certainnewy.
and useful Improvements in Gates for Bins; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in gates for binsand has for one of its objects the provision of a device of thischaracter, which shall besimple, durable and efficient, and which may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost.
Another object of this invention is the provision of a plurality of doors to the chute of a bin, which doors are so arranged that the inner door is the first to occupy a closed position, thereby cutting off the supply of material in the chute and permitting material in the chute to discharge therefrom prior to the closing of the remaining doors.
A further object of this invention is the provision of means for raising the plurality of doors successively so as to permit materials to readily pass through the chute of the bin.
With these and other objects in view as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of partsas will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates a frame secured to a storage bin in any well known manner and having an upwardly inclined bottom wall 2 secured thereto and extending into the bin for forming a chute. A plurality of guide strips t are secured "to the frame *1 and-mhasfislidably mounted therein doors 5, 6, and 7. The doors 6 and 7 are of the same length and the door 5 is approximately one-third longer than the doors 6 and 7 to render it of greater weight. The door 5 is the inner door as will be noted by referring to Fig. 2 and has its lower end beveled as illustrated at 8 to assure its cutting through the materials passing outwardly from the bin along the bottom 2 of the chute.
Angle irons 9 are secured to the doors 5 and 6 and the angled iron of the door 5 overlies the path of travel of the door 6 and the angled iron of the door 6 overlies the path of travel of the door 7 Secured to the door 7 by an eye bolt 10 is a cable 11 passing over a pulley '12 carried by the upper end of the frame for the purpose of raising the doors upwardly. As the cable is pulled, the door 7 moves upwardly and engages the angled iron 9 of the door 6 and moves the same upwardly with the door 7 Upon further movement of the doors 6 and 7 upwardly, the door6 engages the angled iron 9 of the door 5 unseating the door 5 from the bottom wall 2 allowing the material within the bin to pass outwardly therefrom. When the cable 11 is released, the doors move downwardly and the door 5 is the first to engage the bottom wall 2 stopping the flow of material from the bin.
The door 5 being the first to engage the bottom wall 2 stops the flow of material. from the bin and permits any material which may be upon the bottom wall 2 to pass there from before the doors 6 and 7 come into engagement with the bottom wall 2, thus the doors 6 and 7 engage a smooth surface upon the bottom wall 2, thereby rendering a tight seal to the chute obviating any danger of leakage of material from the bin.
