THOMAS W MOOREY Improvement In Bedstead-Fastenings. No. 127,786. Patented June H, 1872.
JV wu MMm/f gttumg 2 UNITED STATES PATENT QFFIoE.
THOMAS W. MOORE, OF NEW YORK, N..Y., ASSIGNOR TO F. N. MOORE, OF PLAINFIELD, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN BEDSTEAD-FASTENINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,786, dated June 11, 1872.
Specification describing a new and Improved Bedstead-Fastening, invented by THOMAS W. MOORE, of the city, county, and State of New York.
This invention relates to new and useful improvement in the mode of attaching the cast fastening-plate to the rails of bedsteads; and it consists in. the construction and arrangement of parts, hereinafter described.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a side view of the fastening-plate. Fig. 2 is a view showing the opposite side or fastening-flange. Fig. 3 is an edge view.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The fastening-plate A is let into the inside of the rail by cutting away the rail at the end, so that the joint end of the rail will be even with the line B of the drawing. The usual way is to let the plate into the rail flush or level with its side, and then to glue a piece of wood, in length equal to the width of the rail and four inches or more in width, over it, to cover the circular hole and the plate, the hole or recess being partly seen in dotted lines. The recess cut in the rail receives the hub or center 0, which serves to hold the plate A securely in place. E E are orifices through the plate, which, in fastening the plate to the rail, will receive glue or pins, and serve to hold the plate. There may be more or less of these orifices, and of any form or size, for receiving glue and holding the plate.
The joint between the rail and post of the bedstead will be at the line B, as before stated. The balance of the plate enters the post, and the rail is held by the projecting flange H or by any other suitable means.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The fastening-plate A for bedsteads, provided with the hub O, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
2. The plate A, provided with the projection F and flange H having the form shown, and for the purpose specified.
. THOMAS W. MOORE.
