Clara and Republic of Cuba, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cocoanut-Punches; and I do hereby declare the following tobe a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the'art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates generally to a hand operative cutting tool and more particularly relates to a piuich for punching cocoanuts.

It is one of the objects of the present invention to provide a practical simple and inexpensive device for the punching of cocoanuts or various other purposes in which the punch may be practically used, and

Another object of the present invention is to provide a punch in the form of a hammer comprising a plurality of readily detachable or removable parts to facilitate the renewal or re-adjustment of the parts as may be necessary.

It is another object of the invention to provide a hand operative tool whereby punchings may be madewith great rapidity and the cuttings easily ejected from the cutting tool.

WVith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the whole, the construction, and details and arrangement of parts as more fully hereinafter described one embodiment of the invention being illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which:

In the embodiment of the invention here shown, the tool comprises a handle 2 of suitable proportions and which may be made of wood or any other suitable material, this carrying at one end a hammer-like head 3 which is provided at one side with a socket portion 4 to receive the handle. The head is longitudinally bored at 5 to receive a slidable ejecting pin 6 which may have a head 7 at its upper end and is threaded at its lower end 8 to receive a removable eject- Patented Aug". 2c, 1918.

'ing disk 9 through which there may be passed, as shown, the threaded adjacent end S of the pin to aid in securing the disk 9 to the pin to prevent accidental separation of these elements.

The lower end of the hammer-like head is shown as. exteriorly threaded at 11 for connection with a detachable annular cutter 12, the lower end of which is suitably knifecdged as at 13 to facilitate cutting of the 'material into which it may be driven when the head is swung by means of its handle to carry the cutter with the necessary momentum into the article or object to be cut or punched. The tubular body portion 12 of the cutter is shown as somewhat enlarged at lt-s upper end at 14 and is internally threaded to engage the threads 11 of the head 3. The ejecting disk 9 is of the diameter to freely work in the chamber of the cutter l2 and the length of the pin 6 is such that the cuttings will be readily ejected from the cutter by a downward movement of the pin 7 by the application of force to the pinhead 7.

From the foregoing it will be seen that the present device may be utilized with great efliciency and rapidity to punch cuttings from the object or material being worked upon and enables the ready clearance of the cuttings from the cutter.

It is understood that the various metallic elements may be of any suitable material and properly proportioned and designed within the principle of the present invention and that'various alterations may be resorted to within the limits of the appended claims.

What I claim is:

1. A cocoanut punch of the nature of a hammer, comp-rising a head having a handle receiving socket extending laterally therefrom, and a handle in said socket an annular hollow cutter at one end of the head, and an ejector having a stem sliding in said head with an enlarged ferrule in the cutter fordislodging cuttings from the chamber of the cutter.

- 2. A cocoanut punch comprising ahead having a handle extending laterally therefrom, an annular detachable hollow cutter at one end of the head, and an ejector having a stem sliding in said head for dislodging cuttings from the chamber of the cutter,

the stem having a tappet head on its end above the head and having a ferrule thread ed on its inner end.

3. A cocoanut punch comprising a head having a handle attached thereto, an ejector pin working axially in the head, an annular hollow cutter at the lower end of the head, and a disk attached to said pin and circuinferentially fitting, and for ejecting cuttings from, the cutter.

A cocoanut punch consisting of a tool of the nature of a hammer comprising a momentu n body or head having a lateral handle whereby it may be wielded with swinging blows, the head centrally bored "from end to end, a stem in said bore having a stop at its upper end and an ejecting disk on its lower end, and a cylindrical cutter on the striking end of the head in which cutter the diskreciprocates, the cuttings being forced into the cutter when the device is used and ejected by the ejector.
