Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed September 21, 1917. Serial No. 192,581.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VINoENzo BENEDETTI, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Palisade, in the county of Bergen and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Shoe-Retainer, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description. 1
Among the principal objects which the present invention has in view are: to retain the heel of a shoe firmly in service position on the foot; and to provide independent means for holding a shoe in the position set forth.

The upward extension of the body 18 and the provision of openings 21 form pockets for the ankle bones of the wearer.
It will be observed that the invention provides a buckle 22 and a strap end 23 disposed on th ankle above the instep of the wearer.
A shoe retainer comprising a supporting section provided with openings to receive the ankle joints of the wearer, said section.
partially covering the counter and rear of a shoe in service; strap ends extending from said section for encircling the ankle ofthe wearer; and means extending below the arch of said shoe for holding the retainer in place.
