Barrel 34 of toggle leg 24-bears against a conforming seat 36 in the endl wall 3 of the punching unit to which the toggle mechanism belongs, and its extensions or journals 35 are seated in bearingscreatedby making cylindrical holes in companion side walls 4 of-base 1. One end of impulse member 27 rides over a guide 40 mounted in andv extending upwardly from base 1, and at the opposite end impulse member 27 is providedvwith a depending pair of spaced lips 41 for each punching unit. Toggle leg 26 of the toggle mechanism under consideration extends upwardly between'loops 41associatedwith said Vtoggle mechanism and an end of its barrel 34 itself forms a bearing seated in `one of the loops 41, such as the inner one. A removable journal 35 extends into the companion or outer loop 41 and is held seated in barrel 34 by a boltV and nut 42.
Between companion loops 41 and l*above barrel k34 of toggle leg 26 is a chamberv 43 in which is a toggleblock44, resting upon thebarrelV 34 of said toggle le 26. l The punch-v ing devices or units may e usedsingly or combined in groups in the same machine,

Notches 49 and 50 are formed in thev under side of gag handle 48 outside ofimpulse member 27, and attached to the outer'k sides of saidimpulse member-are springdetents.

Gag 45 is located between twopunching units, as shown, and is supported by a bracket 53 secured to wallV 54 of impulse Y member 27, as by screws.
