Description

DARNEY IVERSON, OF ARNEGARD, NORTH DAKOTA.
FEED-BUCKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 13, 191s.
Application led .Tune 21, 1917. Serial No. 176,101.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BARNEY IvnnsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Arnegard, in the county of McKenzie and State of North Dakota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Feed- Buckets; and l do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descripi tion of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use thesame.
rllhis invention relates to new and useful improvements in feed buckets and has for -its principal object to provide a Vbucket of this character with a diametrical partition and a semi-circular cover diametrically hinged to the partition and having a handle attached thereto whereby it may be grasped to carr the bucket and whereby it may be grasped7 with one hand while the other hand grasps the grip at the bottom of the bucket to permit of the bucket being scooped through a mass of feed in lling one compartment while the contents of the other compartment are prevented from spilling by virtue of the cover resting in a closed position thereover. t
With these and other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention comprises the various novel features of construction, combination and arrangements of parts as will be more fully described hereinafter, and set forth with particularity in the appended claim.
Referring to the drawings:
Figure l is a perspective view of my irnproved feed bucket, and
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view through the feed bucket.
Similar characters of reference are used to denote corresponding parts throughout the accompanying drawings and the following description. l
Referring more particularly to the drawings, the reference numeral l indicates a cylindrical vessel which is provided on its out-er surface adjacent the bottom thereof with diametrically disposed hand grips 2. The vertical wall of the vessel is provided with `a plurality of spaced circumferential grooves 3 which serve to indicate the quantity of the feed within the vessel.
The vessel l is provided with a vertically disposed diametrical partition 4: which serves to divide the vessel into two comf.
. partments. f
Arranged diametrically across the top of the vessel is a strip 5, the terminal ends of which are rigidly secured to the lupper circumferential edge of the vessel. The partition 4 is .provided at its upper edge with a; laterally extending fiange 6 which is riveted or otherwise secured to the strip 5.
The strip 5 is provided with a plurality of elongated. openings through which are positioned hlnge straps 6 that have their lower ends rigidly attached to the upper` end of the partition 4 by rivets or other suitable fastening means as indicated by the numeral 7. A semi-circular'cover 8 has `its diametrical edge hingedly connected to the hinge straps 6 so that the cover can be swung in either direction to a closed position over either compartment of the vessel.
.'llhis cover 8 is provided at its outer edge with a pair of outwardly extending arms to which is secured a handle 10 the cover, arms and handle, in this instance, being formed from a single sheet of metal.
With a bucket of the above stated character it will be manifest that the same can be used to carry different kinds of feed in the compartments thereof and that the handle 10 of the cover and one of the grips 2 can be grasped to permit of any quantity of feed in either compartment being poured outy of it.
While the feed is being poured out of one compartment the cover will serve to close the other compartment against spilling of the feed that may be therein.
While the bucket shown is primarily in tended for dry feed, it is to be of course understood that by a slight change in the construction of the cover, that is by providing it with a marginal flange to lit down over theupper edge of the vessel, it can be used to carry and dispense liquid feed without the liability of spilling it and yet permit of the dispensation of the feed in any desired quantity.
li claim:
A feed bucket comprising a cylindrical vessel, a strip 'arranged diametrically across the top of said vessel and provided with a longitudinal row of spaced slots, a diametrical partitions disposed vertically within the vessel and having a right angular flange at its upper end secured to the underside of said cross strip, hinge straps positioned through said slots and secured to the pai`- tition, a semi-circular cover hingedly niounted at its dametrcal edge said hinge name to this specification in the presence l straps, mtegral armsroJectmg outwardly of two subscrlbmg wltnesses.
from the edge of sal cover, n handle 1ntegral with said arms, and grips'mounted BARNEY IVERSON' 5 at diametr'cally opposite points on said ves- Witnesses: v
sel adjacent the bottom thereof. G. O. HANGAN,
In testimony whereof I have signed my A. I. HALLER.
