To all. whomi t ma y comm-T The principalbbject of the invention is to provide a device'of this character which is strong, durable and simple in construction,
which can be easily assembledand disassembled, and wherein thedriving mechanism is placed in theumost ,efl'ective position to accomplish the required work...
In carrying outthis object, the means is mountedupon a yieldable auxiliary frame attached to. the passenger frame and running upon airack below thesame, the power being supplied by a motor mounted upon the yieldable frame and connected to a suitablesource of electrical energy.
In the accompanying drawings I have illustrated oneembodiment of my invention, in which: I
Figure 1 is a planview.
Fig. 2 is an elevation; 1
Fig. 3 is a detail elevation of a central mast or post with a hanger attached thereto, with parts in sectionand with a greater portion of the framework of the carousel omitted.
Fig. 4 is a cross sectional view on the line 44 of Fig. 3, looking in the direction of the arrow. A
Fig. 5 is a detail sectional view of the motor and driving wheel supporting frame. In the embodiment of the invention here illustrated, the carousel comprises a central,
mast or post 1 having a base 2 to which are attached the radially extending feet 3. The outer ends of the feet 3 'are connected by a circular track or platform 4, as clearly shown in Fig. 1. Projecting from the upper end of the mast 1 is a pointed bearing pin 5, constituting a fixed bearing for a rotatable cap 6 provided with a lower central bearing 7 having a pointed socket 8 therein fitting upon the point or pin 5. Hangers or supporting rods 9 are connected at their upper ends to the bearingcap 6 and extend downwardly on slightly, diverging lines toward the lower end of the mast or post 1,
.and at their lower ends they are-connected to a suspended bearin ring 10 which encir oles the lower end. o the mast or post 1.

F at their inner ends to the bearing'ring 10. are aplurality of outwardly projecting radially extending horizontal bars orsupporting arms '11. Tothe outer ends of these,
bars are attached the passenger carrying de vices, cars or seats 12,
In order to rotate the passenger carrying frame above described, apair of adjacent cars 12 are connected by a brace 13. j bifurcated auxiliary frame 14 comprising the.
arms 15 providing a space between them is attached below the brace 13 by means of downwardly extending. resilient arms or braces 17, connected at their upper ends 18 and 19 to the bottom and outside of the 4. A pulley or drivingwheel 20 having a grooved rim is journaled by means of the shaft 21 in the free ends of the arms 15. Fixed to the frame 14 is a motor 22 provided with a driving shaft 23 journaledwithin suitable bearings 24 upon the, frame 14. Fixed to the driving shaft23 between the arms 15 is a pulley 25 which is con.-
nected bymeans of a .belt 26' tothe wheel 20. The wheel 20 when rotated is adapted to frictionally engage and bear upon the circular platform or track 4 whereby the carouselis rotated or operated.
In order to supply power to the motor 22, the mast 1 is provided adjacent to its lower end below the bearing ring 10 with fixed contact rings 27, insulated from each other. Conductors 28 lead to both of these rings, while the bottom of the bearing ring 10 is provided with brushes 29, one of which-is in engagement with each ring. To the brushes are connected conductors 30 which are connected at their free ends to the motor, whereby power will be supplied to the latter from a fixed source outside of the carousel. Mounted. upon the brace 13 above the wheel 20 is a seat 31 having the handle bars 32 in front and adapted to receive a pas-- ,senger astraddle of the same. as in abipoint near the outer portions of the carousel and remote fromthe central, mast or, post 1. Furthermore, the power is suppliedtotl'ie driving wheel 20 by means of a motor movable with the passenger frame and which;-is
electrically connected to a suitable source of encrgythrough the central mast. Both-the motor and driving wheel 20 are mounted upon a frame yieldably connected to thepas senger carryingframe and mounted therebelow, so that the driving wheelie yieldably held against the platforn'ror track t andwill not be dependent upon the weight of a'passcnger to cause it the track.
While I have shown and described'on'e em'-' bodiment 'of my invention, it is to bunderstood that I 'donot desire to be'limitedto the details of construction herein shownand' de scribed, for obvious modifications will be apyieldably connected to the outer portions of said carousel beneath said passenger carry-' ing frame, a driving wheel ournaled in said auxiliary frame and adapted to run on; a
track, a motor mounted upon said auxiliary frame, and means for rotating said driving" wheel by direct connection with said motor: 2. In a carousel, a central mast,a hanger rotatably mounted upon said mast and pro- "vided with a passenger carrying frame, van
auxiliary frame yieldablytmounted beneath said passenger carrying. frame andconnected thereto, a driving wheel journaled in said auxiliary frame, a track upon which said to'engage and bear against driving wheel runs, a motor fixed to said auxiliaryframe and liavingaahshaft JOUE: 11fll6d-I-ll6116111,- and a driving connection between said shaft and driving wheel.
to said shaft, arbelt connecting said pulley: witlr'said diivingwlieel; and a track-beneatli said carousel'with' which said driving wheel 1 engages.
4. In a-car'rousel, a central mast, a-hanger rotatably mountediupon" saidr mast, out
wardly extending arms attached to the lower,
' end of said hanger," a' passenger carrying frame at the-outer rend ofsaidfarm's, an
below said'passengercarryingfra ne,a ing 7 wheel Journaled upoir said auxiliary frame; a' motor: also mounted upon? said 60, auxiliary" frame-connected to saiclcarouseli engages, and electrical conductors connecting said motorthrough the mast with a source of energyoutside'of the carousel.
I'n't'estinionythat I'iclaimtlie foregoing as i my own, I have hereto aflixed my signature Gopies 'of this patent may be obtainedfor five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Iatents;
