My invention -irelates ito a vending machintnmndiwhle itthasI for itsprinie objects the productionaofan extremely: simpleoom struetionfione .which is efficient; and` reliable in operation and capable oir-linenutacture` at low oostrryetil aim to? provide ,aiteonstnuetion particulaply: pdaptedrr for attachment to chart-sin "publie' places like theaters and Ctres i e. ie sleepte@ esdevmsleuiSie .is opera e onli` 1n e presence of a eoiii; l in which the feeder is graduallyv advanced-t5 successively deliver articles upon the snccessive insertion of proper coins and subsequent actuations; one in which spurious coins of improper denominations and size Will fail to Operate and one in which coins cannot be inserted after the contents have been vended.
With the above and additional objects a ppearing hereinafter,y in view, the invention has been embodied in one preferred forni as described hereinafter and illustrated in aer eompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is a rear View of the machine with part of the closure and cooperating plate broken away to disclose details and,
Fig. 2 is substantially a central vertical sectional View through the machine.
Referring specifically to the drawings wherein like reference characters designate like or corresponding parts, a suitable easing is provided and by way of example may be substantially rect-angular as shown at 10. Vhile the machine is shown as of the vertical type, a limitation in this regard is not to be implied. The front wall of the casing, which is designated 1.1, as well as the side walls shown at 12 are closed and at the rear a low wall 13 is rigidi)v connected to the side walls. Pivoted to wall 13 as at 14 is a rear or closure wall 15. This closure ma)v he fastened to the remainder of the casing in an),y convenient wav: for instance it ma \v have an integral angle or top wall 1G by which it is releasably fastened to the wall beneath it by means indicated at 17.

A paekagtrteeder has a block"Qsxlidably disposed `in slot 21 ,and mienlapped bjmwarll 1S .iat 1S toi prewnt `lateraldisplaceancntI 1i luteT or l'ollowirll extends Laterallviroiii tiene amitie-ii isili mama ,s aifetrsp-itfi0 rest; upon the uppermost parlnigefofaf'pi e of independent parkages. l l`lio`low`epn'i'os pat-linge is frietionallv rneagedat.'opposi` naar iisa't'QT; to thesidc \\"a`lls`1J of casing. The other packages are supported from and above the lowerniost package. lVhen a package is vended. it falls upon the bottom wall ot the casing at 2S so that it nia)v be withdrawn through an opening 29 provided at. one or hoth sides ot the casing. ;\s. well as the feeder. the ioins are also adapted lo travel in slot il. (lne coin is shown al lill. rthe eoins are inserted into a passage way itl i-onnnnnit'alingr with slot .l and whit-h is provided br stamping wall 1T outwardl).` :it 32. The entrant-e to passageuav 'll is at one side ot the inarhine and this passageway is properly closed by the plate 1S. peniir;` l0 is ot slightly less die ameter than the coin and hence if spurious coins of :i size smaller than a proper coin are inserted theyv will pass through opening 19 and deposit in the easing above lug 24.
Slot. 21 extends to the top of the machine and a plunger 3ft slides therein and through an opening 34 in wall lti. Lateral lugs 35 prevent complete \\'ithdra\\'al ot the plunger from the casing as they ahnt wall 1G. This plunger operates against the roins in slot 21 packages to a sufiicient extent to move the lowermost package out of' engagement by the clasp fingers 2G and the next package into direct engagement between said clasp iin gers. The released package falls upon the wall 28 and from this position may be removed by the hand of the vendee inserted throu h opening 29. Successive vendees repeat t e described operation until the con tents of the machine have been vended at which time feeder 23 will be in the bases of slots 20 and 21 and the coins will fill the slot 21 with the uppermost coin occupyin the position shown in Fig. 1 so that su cient space is not provided to receive a coin when the goods have been sold, This feature in sures honest dealing between the owner of the machine and the public. To remove the coins, Closure 15 is opened. After removal, the supply of goods may be replenished and the machine set for further operation. As previously stated small spurious coin will travel through slot 19 into the casing space above lug 24.
As merely the preferred embodiment of the invention has been illustrated and described it is to be understood that changes may be resorted to.
I claim:
A vending machine coin rising a casing to receive a plurality of articles to be vended, means engaging friotionally the lowermost article, a cover for said casing having a Coin slot and a coin inlet at one side leading to said coin slot, an article pusherl arranged slidably Within said coin slot so as to support the first coin inserted, said coin slot overlapping only slightly coins of proper diameter at both sides, being open inwardly to allow smaller coins to fall into said casing from said coin slot, a slidable plunger extending from the top of said cover and guided Within the upper part of the coin slot so as to move the article pusher through the medium of said coin, an extension on said article pusher extending from the coin slot into the casing and resting normally upon the uppermost article and a delivery opening arranged at the lowermost part of the Casin In testimony Wli HANS HARTMAN.
(Soviel of this patent may be obtained for ve cents each, by addressing the "Commissioner of latentl, Wuhington, D. C."
