UNITED STATES PATENT QFFIOE.
IMPROVEMENT IN CLOTHES-DRIERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,481, dated June 4, 1872.
marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawing is a representation of a front elevation, and Fig. 2 is a vertical section, ofi our invention.
. This invention has relation to clothes-driers;
and consists in the hereinafter-described con struction and novel arrangement of devices for raising the reel.
In the drawing, A represents the supporting-post, which is set in the ground or on a sill, B. From the top of said post rises a rounded rod, 0, upon which the reel-head d slides. Attached to one side of the post A is a box, D, through which passes a Windlass-shaft, E, and a rod, F, holding a pulley, F. G is a pulley arranged within a recess out in a post some distance below the pulley F. H represents a cord passing from the Windlass-shaft E down under the pulley G, thence up and over the pulley F, and then down to the arm f of a vertical rod, H, to which it is fastened. The rod H passes up through the box D, and has a loop, 11, formed in its upper end, which supports a recessed block, t", upon which rests the reel-head. 7 By turning the Windlass-crank A the reel is raised and lowered. A rod, A inserted in the post A, acts as a stop to the crank and prevents the reel from falling. When the pin A is removed the reel falls by its own weight. K designates a hinged shield to protect the working parts from the weather.
What we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a clothes-reel, the rod H, provided with arm f and loop i, in combination with post 0, sliding reel-head d, pulleys F G, Windlass E, and box A, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony that we claim the above wehave hereunto subscribed our names in the presence of two witnesses.
. ORRIN H. HARDING.
