Z '0 all whom it may concern Be-it known that I, Ax'rnoNi Kasiiarris, a citizen 01 Russia, residing at New Haven, county of New Haven, State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Iniproveinents in Fuel-lgniters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in Fuel igniters and particularly to types adapted to be applied to ordinary domestic stoves and ranges.
The principal object of the invention is to provide means whereby a gas [lame may be introduced below the grate so as to cause the fuel thereon to become ignited in a rapid and convenient manner.
Anol her object is to provide means whereby the iguiter when not in actual use may be removed and a door provided to cover the aperture through which the igniter is entered.
A still further object is to provide means whereby the igi'iiter is supported closely adjacent to the grate when in an operative po sition.
These andother like objects are attained by the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of this disclosure, and in which Figure 1 is a side elevational view showing a conventional type of range parts being broken away in order to show the appli cation of the invention.

In the drawings the numeral 10, indirates a stove or range, in the firebox of which are transverse grate bars 11, below and between the tire-bricks 12, covering the compartment 1 1-, tor ashes and the like, the grate bars being supported upon angle elements 16, the construction of the stove or range throughout being of the ordinary type.
The invention comprises a fixed bracket 18, from which extend arms 19, the bracket being secured at the front of the range by any desired fastening means whatever.

A sliding cover plate 42, is provided with an actuating knob 43 at one end, and a pair of lugs 44, at theother, in which is engaged a rod 15, adapted to move within the slots 46, formed in guide plates t7, the slots having a hook shaped upper end 4:9 the arrange ment being such that the cover plate may be completely withdrawn from the opening 48, when it is desired to use the igniter, the arm 38 being extended so as to hold it in position, and when the igniter is withdrawn the plate is raised and held in a raised posi tion by engagement of the rod 45 in the ends l9 of the slots.
When it is desired to remove the igniter the arm is folded upward and engaged by a spring clip 50, the arm operating between fixed guides 51, so that when folded the burners move toward the front of the range, the igniter as a whole being rotated upon the axis 20, permitting it to enter the opening 48, or be removed therefrom.
Proper connections having been made with the gas supply and the burners ignited, the cover plate 42 may be dropped as shown in Fig. 1, the igniter swung into position, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, and moved under the fuel to be ignited.

In a fuel igniter, the combination with a source of gas supply, and a fire-box having a grate therein, of a bracket, a tubular element rotatably engaged in said bracket. a hollow connection extending from said tubular element, a telescopic casing surrounding the outer end of said connection, gas burners carried by said telescopic casing,: means permitting said gas burners to be moved relative to the grate of said firebox, and a pivotal support on said telescopic casing whereby it may be held extended horizontally.

In a fuel igniter, the combination with a range adapted to burn coal and having an opening at the lower front part thereof, a bracket secured over said opening, a tube rotatably engaged in said bracket, and connections between said tube and a source of gas supply, of an L shaped fitting connecsignature.
