UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SIMON GUSTAF PETTERSON AND BER/PILL CARL PE'I'TERSON, OF MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE.
WAGON.
Application filed July 26, 1917.
7 '0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, SIMON G. Pn'r'rnnson and BERTILL C. Pn'rrnusox, citizens of the United States, and residents of Memphis, in the county of Shelby and State of Tennessee, have invented new and useful Improvements in Vagons, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention is an improvement in wagons, and has for its object to provide a toy wagon, wherein a figure or figures is so mounted upon the wagon that the said figure or figures will be moved when the wagon runs.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a side view of an embodiment of the invention;
Fig. 2 is a top plan view with the figures removed;
Fig. 3 is a side view of another embodiment of the invention, with the figures removed.
In the embodiment of the invention shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the wagon comprises a body 1 in the form of a platform or plate, having at one end depending boarings 2 in which an axle 3 is held, the said axle having spindles 4 for receiving the rear wheels 5. A front wheel (5 is mounted below the body .at the opposite end, the said Wheel bein mounted on an axle 7 which is journal ed in bearing brackets 8 depending from the body.
Standards or uprights 9 and 9 are socured to the body intermediate the ends thereof, and levers 10 and 10 are pivoted to the respective standards. Links 11. and 11 are pivoted to the respective levers,and these links pass downwardly through slots 12 in the body to' a connection with the wheel 6, the connection being eccentric, and the two connections being at opposite sides of the wheel and at diametrically opposite points.
Figures represented at 13 and 13 are pivotally connected with the lovers at the connection of the links, and it will be evident that two figures might be connected with the lever 10* which is extended in rear of the standard or upright 9. The lever 10 might also be extended in the same man- Specification of Letters Patent.

ner and the two figures might be connected with the same.
A tongue 1 1 is connected with the front of the body, and it will be evident that when the wagon is drawn the rotation of the wheel will vibrate the levers to impart movement to the figures which, in the present instance, represent clowns. It is obvious that the figures might be animals or anything desired.
In the embodiment of the invention shown in Fig. 3 the body 15, which has the wheels 16 and 17 is also provided with a tongue 18 for drawing the same. The wheels 16 are supported by bearing brackets 19 at the front of the frame, and the wheel 20 which isasingle wheel is journaled between depending brackets 21 on the body. Uprights or standards 22 and 23 arise from the body, the standard 22 being at the front while the standard 23 is near the rear.
We claim:
A device of the character specified, com prising a platform, wheels supporting one end of the platform, a wheel supporting the other end, a pair of standards extending upwardly from the platform and spaced apart laterally and longitudinally of the plat't'orn'l, a lever pivoted to each standard and extending forwardly therefrom, a figure pivoted to each lever at its forward end, and a link connecting each lever to the single wheel, the platform having slots through which the links extend and the links being connected eccentrically to the wheel to vibrate the levers when the wheel is rotated whereby to move the figure.
