IMPROVEMENT IN THlLL-COUPLINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,148, dated May 28, 1872.
Specification describing certain Improvements in Thill-Goupling for Buggies and other Vehicles, inventedby OHIsToPHER COLUM- BUs-(JANER, of Pataskala, in the county of Licking and State of Ohio. Y
My invention relates to the combination of jaws, bolt, and knuckle in such a manner that the said knuckle can be easily adjusted to position in the said jaws or detached therefrom, the said bolt holding the above-named jaws and knuckle in. position and adjusting the parts to wear.
Figure 1 shows thill-couplin g in its several parts. Fig. 2 shows the same completed.
The jaws to b are attached togetherby halflap of j aw-plates and clip 0, which also attaches the said plates firmly to axle d, plate of jaw b being much smaller than plate of jaw a, with only one bolt-hole, and that being elongated in the direction of the width of the jaws, and a space being left between the said plates in same direction, making jaw b adjustable in the same to wear by thread and nut on end of bolt 43.
I claim as my invention- The combination of the jaws a b and the slotted knuckle 7c and the bolt 6, substantially as and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth.
