My invention relates to improvements in electro-dynamo machmes, and it consists 1n the combinatlons. constructions, and ar- 1 rangements herein described and claimed.
IAn object of my invention is to provide an economical means for constructing elect-ro-dynamic machinery, such as direct and alternating current generators or motors, these devices being constructed largely of rolled, or die pressed sheet metal, the sheets being punched or presed and the parts generally being provided with strengthening flanges.
A further object of my invention is to provide a device of the type described in. which the parts which are usually made of heavy solid metal, such as the forms for holding magnetic core of the armature,the saddlesor base portions for supporting the machines, the boxes or bearings, the commutator bar support, the hangers for holding the boxes or hearings in position, the pal-- leys, the brush holders, are made almost entirely of pressed and flanged sheet steel, certain of the parts, however, such as the armature core support the boxes, etc., being arranged to hold the heavier metals such as cores and bearing linings.
A further object of my invention is to provide a construction of the type described by means of which the various parts maybe more easily assembled or taken apart.
A further object of my invention is to provide devices of the t described which are relatively light in weight in comparison with their efliciency.
Other objects and advantages will appear in the following specification, and the novel features of the invention will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings forming part of this application, in wh1ch Figure 1 is a central sectional view through a machine showing one embodiment of my invention.

Referring now to Figs. 1 and 7, I have shown therein a base plate 1 which is provided with bolt openings 2 bordered by flanges 3. Supported upon the base plate is a saddle 4 like that shown in Fig. 6, this saddle being held to the base plate by means of bolts The saddle l is provided with stamped guide sockets 4 arranged to receive the flanges 3 of the base plate. At 4 the saddle is cut away to permit access to the bolts 7. Carried by the saddle is a ring 6 of conducting material such as iron or steel. this ring being secured to the saddle of a support by means of bolts 7 which also secure the on both sides as shown in Fig. 5. The boxes 10 are made of presed metal each half having any form or any number of offsets. desired which can also be used in the construction of pulleys and shaft hangers for all purposes, there being a portion on each side of the hanger 9 secured by welding. screws or rivets, these portions inclosing bearing pieces 11, which are held in position by means of screws 12.
