JAMES WRIGHT &.THOMAS THOMPSON;
Improvement in lnside-B|inds for Houses.
Pa tented May 21, 1872.
- wituesmz UNITED STATES IMPROVEMENT IN INSIDE BLINDS FOR HOUSES.
I Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,006, dated May 21,1872.
Specification describin g" an Improvement relatingto the InsideFolding Blinds for Dwellin gs, invented by JAMES VVRIGHT and THOMAS THOMPSON, of Elizabeth, in the county of Union and State of New Jersey.
The invention consists in entirely covering the hinged blind by means of a jainb that folds over it, as hereinafter fully described and subsequently pointedout in the claim.
The drawing is a horizontal section, with one half of the blind let out and the other folded in the jamb. V
A represents a jalnb, hinged at one or more points so as to fold over a pocket or chamber, A, into which all the slats B of a blind, after being folded upon one another in the usual manner, are turned.
- By this construction the blinds are not only folded upon one another and then turned into a pocket, as now usually done, but, being covered and protected by the jamb, are not subjeot to. defacement by the deposit of dust and other causes. The size of the room is also not appreciably affected by this construction, or its proportion marred by any jutting projection, since the j amb need only extend one inch .beyond the plane surface of the walls. The
ordinary pockets extend some six or eight inches further out than is necessary with our improvement.
Having thus described our inventlon, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The folding jainbs A A and pockets A A, constructed and arrunged,-with respect to the folding blinds B B, as and for the purpose described.
