To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK J. E. B01.- TON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Loraine, in the county of Renville, State of North Dakota, have invented a new and useful Binder Attachment; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and
exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to an improved binder attachment and one of the objects of the invention is to provide an improved device for adjustably connecting an extension elevating conveyer to the frame of the binder, whereby said elevating conveyer may be adjusted in different relative positions to the frame and the usual conveyer of the binder.
A further object of the invention is to provide an improved extension elevating conveyer, whereby the bundles or sheaves from the usual conveyer of the binder may be conveyed upwardly and laterally and discharged or dumped into a wagon to be driven adjacent the side of the binder.
A further object of the invention is to provide an elevating conveyer having means carried by the frame of said conveyer, for supporting the upper and lower portions of the belt of the conveyer proper.
A further object of the invention is the provision of means for connecting an extension elevating conveyer to hinder frames of different widths.
A further object of the invention is the provision of means for adjusting the angle of said elevating conveyer.
In practical fields the details of construc tion may necessitate alterations falling within the scope of what is claimed.
The invention comprises further features and combination of parts as hereinafter set forth shown in the drawings and claimed.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a view in side elevation of a portion of a binder, and a rear view of a wagon and showing the extension elevating conveyer as applied to the binder, so as to dump the bundles or sheaves into the wagon.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of said extension elevating conveyer, showing one end thereof broken away and partly in section.

Referring more especially to the drawings, 1 designates a portion of a binder frame, and 2 denotes a conveyer frame hav ing the usual conveyer belt 3 mounted therein. A suitable roller 4: is mounted in the upper part of the frame 1, and 5 denotes the frame of the improved extension conveying frame. This elevating conveying frame 5 consists of the sides 6, the inner faces of which are provided with the guide strips 7 for the upper part 8 of a conveyer belt. The sides of the frame 5 are braced relative to each other by means of the transverse bars 10, which are fastened to the guide strips 7 on the inner faces of said sides. A central guide strip 11 is secured and mounted on the transverse bars 10. Mounted upon a shaft 12 which connects the upper outer ends of the sides of the frame 5, is a roller 13, and said elevating conveyer belt 14 passes about the roller 13 and the roller 4, which belt is provided with the usual transverse strips 15, acting to retain the sheaves or bundles on said belt. The upper outer end edges of the sides 6 of the frame 5 are curved as shown at 16, and a suitable hood or cover plate 17 is secured to said edges, to guide and deflect the sheaves or bundles into a suitable wagon or other vehicle 18, that may be drawn adjacent the binder and said elevating conveyer. Secured by suitable screws or the like 19 to the outer faces of the sides of the frame 5 are metallic angular straps or plates 20. Secured by screws 21 to the lower right angle ends 22 (which extend toward each other) are guide strips 23, adapted to support the under portion 24. of said elevatin conveyer belt 9. The opposite ends of tie strips 23 are beveled 01f as shown at 25, to uide the transverse bars of the belt 9 onto t e strips 23. Secured to the sides 6 of the frame 5 as at 27 are straps 26, to the lower inner end of which, by means of the pivots 28, the connectors or couplers 29 are pivotally connected. The pivots 28 are axially alined. Mounted upon the ends of the shaft 30 (on which the roller 4 is fixed) are supporting arms 31, which in turn are connected at 32 to the ears 33 of said members 29. Said connectors or couplers are provided with extension plates 34, which are oppositely disposed, and extend toward each other, and are adjustably connected by the bolt and slot connections 35 and 36. By means of said connectors or couplers and their particular adjustable connections extension elevating conveyers may be connected to binder frames of difierent widths. In other words the extension elevating conveyers for the purpose herein set forth may be made of different widths, to correspond to different widths of binder frames, and by means of said connectors these frames may be adjustably joined. On one end of the shaft 30 a sprocket 37 is fixed, to be operated by a chain 38, which in turn may be operated in any suitable manner, in order to impart movement to the conveyer belt 9. Fastened to as shown at 39 and rising upwardly from the frame 2 are uprights 40, which support a transverse member 41 at its upper end. This member 41 is provided with eyes 42. The upper outer edges of the sides of the frame 5 have eyes 43, to which theguy or brace wires 44: are connected. The wires 44 are in turn passed through the eyes 42 and have their extremities adjustably connected to the body of the wires by any suitable clamp 45. Eyes 46 are also carried by the member 41, and eyes 47 are secured tothe edges of the sides of the frame 2. Suitable guy or brace wires 48 connect the eyes 46 and 47, thereby in conjunction with the brace wires 44, the extension elevating conveyer is adjustably Gepies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the braced in position. The connectors or couplers have upwardly extending cars 49 provided with apertures 50, and it is to be noted that by adjusting the pivots 28 in certain axially alined openings 50, the inner ends of the sides of said frame 5 may be adjusted. The sheaves or bundles or the like as they leave the binder are conveyed upwardly by the conveyer 3, discharged on to the conveyer 8, and then discharged into the wagon 18, which may be driven alongside of the binder, as shown clearly in Fig. l.
The invention having been set forth what is claimed as new and useful is In combination, a binder frame, an extension elevating conveyer frame, coupling means connecting the binder frame and the frame of the elevating conveyer frame, said coupling means comprising a pair of connectors connected to the binder frame, and in turn pivotally and adjustably connected to the conveyer frame, whereby the conveyer frame may be adjusted in different relative positions to the binder frame, said connectors having transverse straps or plates extending toward each other and overlapping, and means comprising bolt and slot connections joining said transverse straps or plates.
