My invention has relation to annealing pots, such as are used for annealing wire, and more particularly to annealing pots formed of sheet metal.
The object of my invention is to provide a sheet metal annealing pot which can be readily constructed, which provides for the necessary expansion and contraction movements, and which is strong, durable and 'eflicient in service.
Referring first'to Fig.1, the numeral 2 designates the body portion of the. pot,
'which is of generally cylindrical form and which is preferably formed from a single sheet of metal'whose edges are brought together and welded.
This body portion is formed with a series of circumferential corrugations 3. 4 designates the bottom of the pot which is formed from a separate sheet of metal and which is preferably shaped to give it a plurality of concentric corrugations 5. This band, together with the corrugations 3 and 5, provide for free ex-' pansion and contraction without straining the pot, and prevent cracking and breaking thereof in service. The corrugations also greatly strengthen and stifi'en the pot, as
well as increase the heat-absorbing and heatradiating surfaces thereof.
The form 'of my invention shown'in Fig. 3 is similar to that shown in Fig. 1, except that corrugations 3 and 5 are of somewhat more angular form. The bottom portion 4*" is also shown as ofi'set upwardly, so as to be out of contact with the surfaces. upon which the pot rests.
The modification shown in Fig. 4 is substantially the same as that shown in the otherfigures, exceptthat thecorrugations 3 and 5 are greater in number andv of less It will be obvious that other forms of corrugations may be employed, and that other changes may be made in the details of construction, without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention as set forth in the appended claims; C I claim:
l. A sheet metal annealing pot having its bottom portion formed with a plurality of concentric corrugations the outer corrugation merging into the body of the pot, substantially as described.
2. A sheet metal annealing p'ot having its bottom portion formed with a plurality of concentric corrugations the outer corruga-l tion merging into the body of the pot, each corrugation merging directly into an adjacent corrugation, substantially as described.
3. A sheet metal annealing pot having its body and bottom portions formed with a plurality of corrugations, the outer corru gation on the bottom merging into the lower Y corrugation on the body of the pot, substantiall as described.
4. A s eet metal annealing pot having its body and bottom portions formed with a lurality of corrugations, the bottom and 195 Body portions being connected by a convex bend ,of relatively large radius, substantially as "described.
5. A heet metal annealing pot having its body portion formed -with a plurality of circumferentiaiiy 'extenaing corrugations and an unccrrugated mouth portion, and
