Kos'rya 'citizen of the United States, residing at Galveston; inthe county of Galveston, State of Texas have invented certain new-and useful Improvements in Mail-Bag-Delivering Apparatus, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the'acdrawing and to the figures of My invention relates to a deviceffor' ef- "fecting the receipt of bags and the like from and the delivery thereof to railway'trains, cars, etc.,while the latter are in motion. In the embodiment illustrated the bags 15 are shown as providedwith a metallic frame 28 to which the chain 29 is attached at opposite sides of the bag.
In operationlthe bag to be removed from the car is hung by the ,chain 29 on the hook 14 of the bag support 11 facing in the direction opposlte that in which the car is moving, which s ndicated by an arrow. the operator within the cartilts ascending the inclined portion 20 the chain 29 impacting against suitable shock absorbers attached to the horizontal section 19. These shock absorbers, in the embodiment shown, consist of rods 31 provided with heads 32 and mounted in bearings 33, 33 so as to be capable of reciprocal movement. They are provided with coiled springs 34 which engage" at one end wlth one of the bearlngs 33 and at the. other end against collars 35 fired to rods 31, and which Qflicr resistance to the movement of the impacting bags and absorb v the shock of their impact.
