For the purpose of operating the parts a motor 40is shown operating a main shaft- 1 41 in any desired way. This shaft in turn operates a cam shaft .42 on which is the cam 17 for operating the links 16, and consequently, the cam 22.

On the cam shaft 42 is a cam 50 which operates a cam roll 51. This roll ismounted onone arm of a twobranched lever}5;2 which is pivoted to swing loosely ona shaft 53 supportedby the frame. The other arm .of thislever is connected by a stud 54with an arm 55 also pivoted loosely on the shaft 53 and pivotally connected by a link 56,.with

This lever is keyed to the end of a shaft 59 and the nut 57 is adjustably connected with the lever by means of a screw 62 which engages the nut and is mounted on'the .leverradially with respect to the shaft. It will be obvious that the extent of motion imparted tothe lever by the cam 50 will depend upon the adjustment of the nut 57 on the screw 62. This adjustment is made'by means of a hand wheel 68 having link 71 is connected with a piston rod 72 20 to the bottom of which is secured the piston 32. It will be obvious, therefore, that the :operationof the hand wheel 63 adjusts the length'of the stroke of this piston so that a fullcharge of metal can be pumped into the mold: when the level of metal in the pump is low. The pump is shown as providedwith a mixer 7 3 operated by a motor 74 or in any other desired manner.
For the purpose of feeding the metal to the melting pot'the following mechanism is provided. On the frame is a chute- 80 for receiving; the tails T, which are severed from the plates by the finishing mechanism (not shown) These tails T slide down this chute in the position indicated at the top of Fig. 6. One advance corner of each one engages a projection 81 on one lower side of the chute. This causes the tail to be turned around a quarter of a turn so that one of the straight edges is foremost. Then in this position it slides down an incline 82 which forms a part of the chute and which is at an angle to the chute 80, so as to be less abrupt. At the bottom of this incline one advance corner engages a projection 83 on the sameside, This causes it to turn again so that one of its curved edges is foremost.
Then it slides by gravity over an incline 84 into a conveyer for elevating it into the melting pot. It is stopped by a fixed plate 88. V

The conveyer comprises two endless chains 87 which are operated by the two worms 48 and worm wheels 98. The outer strands of the chains pass upwardly on the outsides of the bottoms .86 and the inner strands pass n these bottoms.
The two chains are provided with projections 89, kept in registration and. so arranged that twoof these projections pass upwardly on the outer strands together.
Therefore, they engage the two edges of the plate and cause the plate to travel upwardly to the top of the conveyer by which 1t 1s dumped over into the melting pot. The chains pass over sprocket wheels 90 and 90, those at the top located over the melting pot.
The projections on the inner strands of the chains coming down at the center do not interfere with the ascent of the tail as they come within its concavity. It will be understood, of course, that these chains can be used to elevate used plates placed in them by hand and in practlce the chains are run at such a speed that these plates can be put in alternately with the tails.
For the purpose of elevating pigs of metal, the casing is provided with a longitudinal projection 91 along one side of the bottom. This forms with the side wall of the casing, a passage way along which the pigs are elevated by one chain.
Although I have illustrated and described only a single embodiment of the invention, I am aware of the fact that many modifications can be made therein by any person skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention as expressed in the claims, therefore I do not wish to be limited to all the details of construction herein shown and described, but what I do claim is 1. The combination with a movable mold section and means for moving it, of a pump for supplying metal to the mold having a piston, means for operating the piston, a cam operated by said mold section moving means, and positive means operated by said cam for rendering said pump inoperative independently of the operation of the piston.
2. The combination with a movable mold section and a toggle for operating it, of a shaft fixed to and oscillatable with said toggle, a pump cylinder, means for controlling the operativeness of said pump cylinder to deliver metal, and means operated by said shaft for operating the first named means.
3. The combination with a movable mold section, of a lever for operating it, a shaft fixed to said lever about the axis of which the lever turns with the shaft, a cam on the shaft, a pump for supplying metal to the mold, and means operated by said cam for rendering said pumpinoperative when the mold section and lever are moved from eastlng position.
4. The combination with a movable mold SGOtIOILaIId a lever for operating it, of a shaft, means operated by said shaft for operatlng said lever, a cam fixed with respect to. said lever and adapted to be turned when the lever is turned to move the mold section, a pump having a piston, means for operating the piston, a cylinder for the piston having a port, a .valve for said cylinder arranged to open and close the port, and means operated by said cam for controlling the position of said valve.
5. The combination with a mold having a movable member, a pump for supplying metal to the mold having a melting pot, and an elevator for supplying metal to the melting pot, of a motor, a main shaft driven by the motor, means connected ith said main shaft for operating the movable mold memher, means connected with the main shaft for operating the pump, and means connected with the main shaft for'operating the elevator.
6. The combination of a main shaft, a cam 15 shaft connected therewith and operated thereby, a pump, a cam on said shaft, conneotions from the cam to the pump for operating the pump, a mold in position to be supplied by metal from said pump, said mold having a movable element, a toggle lever for operating said movable element, and a system of levers operated by said shaft for operating said toggle lever.
