NEGKTIE-HOLDEB- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 14, 1918.
Applicationtled July so, 1917. Serial no. 153,501.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Gnonca T. SHonLnY, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Lebanon, in 'the county f Lebanon and 5 State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain useful Improvements in NBCktIlB-HOId ers, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad therein to the accompanying drawing.
The invention relates to a hol er and more particularly to the class of necktie holders.
The primary 0 ject of the invention is the provision. of a. holder of this character wherein neckties can be placed and held in order, without the P0551 ility of the accudental falling of the ties therefrom.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a holder of this character wherein a retaining rod or bar is slidably supported upon a frame on which are adapt ed to be placed neckties and this bar or to retains'the ties to avoid the falling of the same from the holder, said holder eing of novel construction to render the same, handy for use and neat and attractive in appearonce.
A further object of the invention is the rovision of a holder of this character which is extremely simple in construction, thonoughly reliable and efiicient in its purpose, strong, durable and inexpensive in manufacture. v
With these and other objects in. view the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated .in the accom anying drawing and pointed out in the c aim-hereunto appended. a p
In the accompanying drawing: I
Figure .1.is a perspective view of the holder constructed in accordance with the invention showing a tie held thereby;
Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view; r 4 Fi 3 ice transverse sectional view on the line 3-3 ofFig. 1. -l Similarreierence characters indicate correspond" l I throughout the several f? 1 wing in detaiL the tie jase 5 preferably made from metal and in this instance is of a substantially rectangular shape having holes 6 for the reception of fasteners to permit the base to be secured to a wall or other support and integrally formed with this base and extending outwardly therefrom is an arm 7 from which rises an open frame 8, the side members 90f the frame being inte rally formed with the arm 7 although said rame can be separate from the arm and made fast thereto in any suitable manner.
Disposed transversely of the opening in the frame 8 is a retaining rod or bar 10 which is provided with sleeve or collar like ends 11, the latter loosely embracing the side limbs 9 of said frame 8 so that the bar or 10 is free for sliding movement 1ongitudinally of said frame and in the use of the holder the neckties are placed within the frame to straddle or lie crosswise of the d arm 7 and this bar 10 by reason of its weight moves downwardly into contact with the onped ties to retain the same upon the arm when placed within the frame and thereby avoid the possibility of the accidental falling of the ties from the frame when supported by the holder.
Formed on one of the sleeves or collars of the retaining rod or bar 10 is a hand knob 12 which permits the manual raising of the rod or bar 10 when it is desired to remove a necktie or neckties from the holder the bar or rod 10 bein slightly raised out of contact with the neo ties so that any one or several of the same can be withdrawn from the frame as will be apparent.
It is i of course to be understood that changes, variations and modifications may be made in the invention such ascome properly within the scope of the appended claim without departing from the s irit of the invention or sacrificing any 0 its advantages.
From the foregoing it is thought that the construction and manner of operation of the device will be clearly understood and therefore a more extended explanation has been omitted.
What is claimed is: A necktie holder comprising a base for attachment to .a wall, an arm formed integral with and eitendin'g outwardly from one base, an open frame rising u werdly removal of ties held in the bottom of mm from the arm and formed integra there frame, the retaining bar-being further )mw th, the frame having upstan'din slae vided with a h'ndle secured to one 0 its 1 limbs, and a retaining bar provide with collar like ends utside the frame to permit 5 dollar like ends, the latter loosely embracing the manual raising 0f the retaining bar.
the gnid side. limbs of the. frame so thatthe In testimony whereoflaflix my signature ban maybe raised vertically to permit the GEORGE T. SHOLLEY.
