.residents of Los Angeles, county of Los Angeles, State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bracelet-Cases,

. ofwhich the following is a. specification.

This invention has reference generally to improvements in that class of inventions known as special'article carriers and more particularly relates to a bracelet case.

It is the principal aim and object of this invention to provide a device of the character mentioned designed for receiving and hermetically sealing a watch to isolate the same from the elements, thus permitting of the use of the watch whether the wearer be in bathing or working in dusty mines, etc.

As an additional object this invention contemplates the provision of a bracelet case for watches with sides protecting the same from the action of the elements and thusafi'ording safety and security for the Workman or open the case to determine the time, the dial of the watch being always visible through the case.

More particularly this invention includes the provision of. a sectional case within which is removably clamped a watch and with which cooperates wrist encircling means for supporting the case upon the wrist of the wearer.

A more specific object of this invention consists in. the provision of common means between the watch case and the cover of the bracelet case for hermetically sealing the bracelet case and for protecting the crystal of the watch; to also provide means for remov'ably locking the sections of the case to permit of the removal of the watch therefrom without detaching the wrist engaging means.

Similar characters of reference are employed in all the above described views to indicate correspo nding parts.

Referring now, more particularly, to the accompanying drawings there is provided a disk-like base 1 formed of any suitable material such as hard rubber, metal, etc., being threaded exteriorly as indicated by the numeral 2 for a purpose that will presently appear. The upper surface of the base is provided with a watch receiving recess 3 for removably accommodating a watch 4 of any conventional construction, the stem 5 of which is'also removably accommodated in a stem receiving recess 6 in the base and communicating with the recess 3.

With a view toward providing improved means for removably holding the watch 4 on the base 1 and for hermetically sealing the Watch casing within the recess, anannular cushion such as a rubber washer 7 is disposed on the peripheral edge of the base the base is preferably provided with opposed recesses 11 for accommodating the fingers of the wearer to facilitate the application of the cover to thebase. As intimated, improved means have'been provided onthe cover for cooperating with the wrist engaging means. In reducing this feature of the invention to practice the flanged portion 9 is provided with an annular groove 12 on its outer surface in which is terminally fixed an annular metallic reinforcing band 13. Loops 14 depend from opposite points on the band and project. beneath the lower surface of the base and lie within opposed pairs of slots 15 in the flange so as to prevent relative rotary movement of the band and the cover. A wrist encircling strap 16' is now engaged in the loops while a 7 buckle 17 of any conventional design is carried on the outerend thereof for adjustably I and. removably connecting the free ends of the strap about .the wrist of the wearer.

In Figs.v 8 to 14: inclusive there is shown a modified form of the invention. Although the preferred construction affords safety and security for the workman and the swimmer, it does not permit the removal of the watch without removing the wrist encirclingstrap and inasmuch as there are cases'where facility for handling the watch is preferred the h following modification has been provided.

.In this instance instead of employing the annular band-for connecting the loops to the cover, loops 18 are mounted at opposite points on the under surface of the base 19 for slidable arrangement about a wrist strap 20 similar in construction to the wrist strap 16. A threaded stud 21 is anchored in the under, surface of the base 19 while a latch bar 22 is pivotally connected thereto and is soremovably arranged in a radial groove 23 in the under surface of the base while a catch 24 on the outer end of the latch bar is removabl'yarranged in a recess 25 .on the outer periphery of the flanged portion 26 of the cover 27. Normally when in the position shown in Fig. 9 the wrist of the wearer cooperates with the wrist strap 20 in holding the latch bar in such position. However, it is to be appreciated that by removing the catch 24; on the end of the bar 22 from the recess'25 the transparent cover 27 may be removed to consequently permit of the removal'of the annular cushion 28 from en- -which said latch bar is nae-snoo gagement with the watch 29 seated in the upper surface of the base without detaching the wrist'strap.

It is believed in view of the foregoing descriptionthat a further detail description of the operation of the invention is entirely unnecessary. Likewise it is thought the advantages ofthe invention will be readily apparent. However, it may be mentioned that the flanged cover being'formed of a transparent material such as glass enables the wearer of the watch to look through the same to determine the time whenever it is desired; In addition the cooperation between the base, the cover and thejcushion or washer assures that the watch will be pro- ,tected fromthe action of the elements so that persons working in mines, factories, railroads, etc, and in general in all places where the atmosphere is full of dust or moisture may conveniently use the case.

As many changes could be made in the above construction and many apparently widelydifl'erent embodiments of this invention could be made without departing from the scope of the latter, it is intended that all matter contained in the above description or shown in the accompanying drawings shall be interpreted as merelyjllustrating the conception of our invention. These and other modifications are intended to be covered by the present claim.

In a device of the kind described, in combination, an annular base portion, having a threaded edge, a concavo-convex cover threaded onto the threaded edge of said base portion, a pair of oppositely-extending loop members mounted on the under surface ofsaid base portion, one of said loops having its inner portion secured to said base portion at a point spaced inwardly of the threaded edge thereof, a stud anchored in the under surface of said base portion, a latch bar pivoted to said stud, said base por- 0 tion being formed with a radial groove in received and said cover being formed upon its peripheral edge with a recess, a catch formed terminally upon said latch baradapted to project into' i said recess to lock said cover against rotatipn, and a strap passed through said'loop members and adapted when its ends are secured together, to press against said latch bar so as to retain the latter within said groove. 7
