Be it known that I, FRANK G. DORMENT,

a citizen. of the United States of America, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pocket- Volatilizers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to a pocket volatiland to an arrangement thereof whereby the contents of the receptacle is not readily discharged from the container if the device he accidentally inverted when'not in use, and

F whereby the device is sanitary and use does not vitiate the contents thereof.

The invention consists in the matters hereinafter set forth, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

Fig. 3 is a view partially in elevation and partially in longitudinal section, taken on the plane of Fig. 1, showing the device when on its side, with the subsequent sealing action' of the air tube thereof, and with a sanitary shield removed.

As herein shown, a medicament holder 1 that may be a receptacle of sheet metal or the like preferably cylindrical in form, is sealed permanently at thelower end by a base wall 2, and at the upper end is adapted to frictionally telescope over the reduced body of a nose or mouth piece 3, which. has a depending central nipple t in the lower end portion and an axial bore 5 therethrough that is the discharge duct of the volatilizer.

An intake pipe 6 is inserted in a suitable longitudinally arranged aperture of the nose piece 3 so that the upper end thereof opens into a lateral intake duct 7 and the lower end of the latter opens close to the bottom of the container 1. Between this lower end and the mouth piece, there is a complete bend as indicated at 8 in the tube forming a closed eyelet. lhe radius of this is such that when a suitable quantity of medicament is introduced into the holder, an inversion of the latter does not cause escape of the contents through the air intake opening. Similarly, the depending nipple 4c of th mouth piece,

likewise prevents any portion of the liquid getting into the outlet duct 5, because of the annular chamber around it.

A sanitary cap 9 of soft rubber or the like is drawn over the member 3 with an outwardly opening and inwardly sealing slot 10 in the end thereof. This prevents ingress of anything to the container from the mouth or nose of the user, and also evaporation or other deterioration of the contents of the holder. The cap is readily removed for cleansing and sterilizing.

As a result of this construction, an in haler or vaporizer or atomizer is obtained that is readily carried in a vest pocket, is substantially non-leakable when filled properly, and is effective for volatilizing or atomizing liquid medicaments and readily applying the same to the mouth or nose.

Obviously, changes in the details of construction may be made without departing from the spirit of my invention and I do not care to limit myself to any particular form or arrangement of parts.

l/Vhat I claim is l. A volatilizer comprising a cylindrical medicament holder permanently closed at one end, a closure for the other end in the form of a nozzle in telescoping engagement with the container, a depending nipple on the inner end of the closure of reduced diameter, there being an axial bore through the closure as an outlet passage, and an air inlet tube'extending from a lateral opening in the closure toward the bottom of the holder, and having a complete circular bend between the ends thereof of sufficient dia1neter to prevent egress of fluid when the holder is inverted.
