This invention relates to pendant fixtures, such as those used in connection with indirect electric lighting, and has for its object to provide a form of construction, in

such fixture, permitting of cheap manufacture, while being adaptable'to a great va riety of combination and design due to the provision of certain interchangeable cooperative parts, all of which may be suspended from the central pipe or conduit depending fromthe ceiling of a room, in contradistinction to the usual" attaching of chains or the like, to the ceiling plate or canopy, as has generally been heretofore known, whereby the said ceiling plate or canopy is free from the weight of such fixture, so that the said plate or canopy may be lowered upon the said pipe to permit inspection of the wires at the ceiling outlet, or the said plate or canopy raised without inconvenience or interference with the said pendant fixture.

The said invention consists essentially of the novel construction and arrangement of parts, whereby a plurally armed member is provided adapted to be suspended centrally and a further member or members, preferably of somewhat similar design to the first mentioned member, provided to be attached to or secured in juxtaposition to the said first mentioned member, but in a plane angularly disposed to and cutting the vertical plane of the said first mentioned member in more or less symmetrical manner; means being provided for securing the said members in their relative positions, with respect one to another, certain of the said members being adapted to carry the supporting chains or other supporting elements carrying the reflecting bowl, or such other device as may be supported by the said chains; all of which is more particularly described in and by the following specification, having reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:

'lhesemembers are looped, or otherwise provided with means whereby they may form the support, either directly or indirectly, for the upper ends of the chains, or such other elements as may be used for the supporting of the reflecting bowl or other lower part of the fixture, and it will be seen by an examination of the Fig. 1, that a plurality of sets of these armed members may be employed for increasing the ornamental effect, in the case illustrated spindles 7 7, being employed to connect the two sets of the said members, the lower set of which is reversed and carries the chains 8 8.

The upper members are centrally connected to a chain 9, in the said figure, which in turn is suitably connected to the lower end of the ceiling pipe 10, and it therefore follows that no weight of the fixture is taken by the canopy 11, which may be for that reason, easily raised or lowered for inspectin purposes.

In the modified form of the invention, shown in Fig. 2, the member 1 is provided with a loop 12, at its upper end, which may be adapted to be connected directly, or indirectly, with the ceiling pipe 10, the lower curved parts of the arms of the members 1 and 2, in this case, being preferably directly connected to the chains, or such other bowl supporting means, to provide a simple fixture.

scribed, a great variety of designs can be produced, without"necessitating the use of intricate castings, the parts being independently simple, both to manufacture and to finish or polish, While when combined they give the effect of intricate work*and richness of design, also permitting certain designs to be used which'it would be impossible to manufacture commercially were all of the arms to be integral.

This invention may be developed within the scope of'the following claims without departing from the essential features of the said invention and it is desired that the specification and drawings be read as being merely illustrative and not in a limiting sense, except as necessitated 7' by the prior art.

l/Vhat I claim as my invention is:

1. In a device of the class described, a k h n afpl r ty of a s x endi outwardly therefrom, said arms being adapted to support a pendant fixture therebeneath, a further series of similar arms radiating from a common center, and means for detachably securing said last mentioned series of arms axially to said link.

2- 1 a? evic of t class e c i d, a link adapated to be supported from above and having lateral arms extending outwardly therefrom, a further link member also having lateral arms, and being adapted to interlock with said first mentioned link member in juxtaposition thereto whereby the arms of both link members radiate from an approximately common center, and means for normally securing the two link members in such interlocked relation.

3."In a device of the class described, a link member comprising a boss having radial arms extending outwardly therefrom, a further link member also having a boss and radial arms, said link members being assembled together by the juxtaposition of the two bosses one above the other, and locking means normally securing said bosses together.

In a device of the class described, a link having a pair of outwardly and oppositely extending arms in a common plane therewith, a further pair of arms connected together also in a common plane, and means detachably connecting said link to said. last mentioned arms, so that the plane of said last mentioned arms will cut'the plane of said link to produce a cruciform arrangement of said arms in combination.
