My invention has for its object to furnish an improved support for plants, shrubs, small trees, 85o., which shall be simple in construction, convenient in use, and effective, and which may be made of any desired size; a-nd it consists in the support constructed as hereinafter more fully described.
A is a standard or stake, the lower end of which is sharpened so that it may be readily thrust into the soil. The length and size of the standard A is proportioned in size and length to the size of the plant to' be supported. The upper end of the standard A has two longitudinal slots formed init, dividing it into three prongs. The ends of the side prong are cut off, leaving the central prong the longest. The ends of the three prongs may be sharpened or tapered, if desired. B is a metallic strap, the middle part of which is bent into circular form.
The arms of the strap Bare parallel with each other to pass through the slots of the standard A, and their ends are bent outward at right angles to rest against the rear side of the standard A.
In using the support the strap B is passed around the plant, shrub, or tree. The paral lel arms of the strap B are then slipped down into the slots of the standard, the upwardlyprojecting central prong guiding them readily into place. The edges of the middle or ring part of the strap B are turned or ared outward, as shown in Fig. l, so that the said edges cannot chafe or rub the said plant, shrub'7 or tree.
The device may be made small for use with house-plants, or larger for shrubs or small trees,
as may be desired.
Having thus described my invent1on, I clalm as new and desire to secure by Letters Pat- Witnesses:
