STAMP-RECEIVER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 2, 191%.
Application :tiled August 20, 1917. Serial No. 187,191.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD MASON WALSH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Maple Falls, in the county of Whatcom and State of lllashington, have in vented a new and useful Stamp-Receiver, of which the following is a specification.
The invention aims to provide a simple device adapted to be held in the hand and to contain a strip of stamps, the construction being such that the strip may be fed forwardly by the thumb of the operator, it being possible to tear ofi' a stamp, after the same has been advanced.
Figure 1 is a top plan showing a device embodying my invention;
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the structure shown in Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a cross section of the structure shown in Fig. l;
Fig. 4 is an end elevation of the structure shown in Fig. l.
The structure claimed embodies a plate l having longitudinal groove 8, and a plate 9 having a longitudinal rib l0 which lits into the groove 8 without closing the same, thereby to dene a longitudinal passage 11, the plates 9 and 7 being secured together at their longitudinal edges, in any desired way. The passage 11 has an outlet 12 located at one end of the structure, and at the other end of the structure, the constituent plates 7 and 9 thereof are beveled outwardly, as shown at 14, to define a mouth, through which a strip of stamps may be inserted readily into the passage 11. The plate 9 has a longitudinal slot 15, through which the strip of stamps may be advanced by the thumb of an operator.
The structure preferably is fashioned from wood, but some material other than wood may be used if desired.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is l. A device of the class described com prising a first imperforate plate having a longitudinal groove; and a second plate secured to the first plate on opposite sides of the groove and embodying a longitudinal rib fitting into the groove and filling the same but partially to define a longitudinal passage having an outlet at one end of the device, the second plate having a longitudinal slot communicating with the passage, the plates being opposltely beveled at the other end of the device to form an enlarged filling mouth communicating with the passage.
2. A device of the class described comprising a first imperforate plate having a longitudinal groove; and a second plate secured to the first plate on opposite sides of the groove and embodying a longitudinal rib tting in the groove and filling the same but partially to define a longitudinal passage having an outlet at one end of the device, and an inlet at the other end of the device, the second plate being provided with a longitudinal slot located in the rib and communicating with the passage.
. In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto allixed my signa ture in the presence of two witnesses.
EDWARD MASON WALSH.
