IMPROVENI ENT IN ICE-FLOATS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 126,107, dated April 23, 1872.
Specification describing a newr andl'mprovcd Ice-Float, invented by LOUIS TOWNSEND, of Terre Haute., in the county of Vigo and State of Indiana.

My invention has for its object to furnish an improved device for iloating blocks of ice to the flume or elevator for storing it, and which shall be simple in construction and convenient in use, enabling the blocks to be iioated to the desired place much more expeditiously than 1 is possible When the ordinary means are employed; and it consists in the device constructed as hereinafter more fully described.
The device is formed in three Sections, hinged or pivoted to each other, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. Each section consists of a top bar, A, a bottom bar, B, and a series of rounds, C, by which the bars A B are connected to each other, somewhat in the manner of an or dinary ladder. The central section should be made twelve feet, more or less, in length, and the end sections are made about half as long. To the free end of each of the end sections is attached one end of a rope, D, Which ropes D should be made of at` convenient length.
In using the device, it is put around one or more of the blocks of ice to be floated, and the men, by means of the ropes D, readily and quickly iioat it to the desired place;
