A ,further object of the invention resides in so constructing the machine that the change of direction in which the water is thrown will be automatic.

A still further-object of the invention resides in the general improvement of the construction of machines of this character.

With these and other objects in view, such as will appear as my description progresses, myinvention comprises the combination and arrangement of'parts as set forth in and falling within the scope of the appended claims.

The embodiment of the invention illustrated in the drawing includes a base 1 on one end of which a support is mounted which is provided with upwardly extending spaced arms 2 and 3. Rotatably mounted in the upper end of the arm 2 is a. casting 4 on one end of which a gear 5 is formed and on the other end of which a socket 6 is formed. One end of a cylindrical casing 7 is secured to this casting and the socket- 6 is located The other end of the casing is provided with a hinged cover 8 on which a bearing member 9 is mounted. A dish supporting tray is mounted within the casin 7 and is semi-cylindrical inform, be- .i-ng ormed of screemcloth. This tray is provided with a solid bottom 10 on which a plurality of upwardly projecting. lugs 11 are formed. port'16;'which latter is shaped in form and is hinged, at 17, to the base 1. This su ort serves to support the casing 7 when t e atter is in its operative position. This casing is, however, supported when the suport 16 is disenga ed from the trunnion 13 y a bracket 18. t the opposite end of this casing 7 is a drain cook 19 and located inter mediate the ends isa water inlet port 20 which is provided with a suitable cover. The dish supporting tray is provided with a plurality o transversely extending rods 21 which project between the upper edges thereof and between which the plates are supported. A plurality of U-shaped supporting members 22 extend upwardly from the upper edges of the tray and are provided with hooks 23 for the reception of cups. .The inner side of the casing 7 has a plurality of fins 24 which extend longia segmental internally toothed rack 29, the

teeth of which mesh with the gear 5. Vith this arrangementwhen the crank handle 26 is operated the gear 5 will be rotated in one direction by virtue of the engagement of the interrupted gear 27 therewith. As soon as this gear 27 is disengaged from the gear 5 the teeth on the rack 29 will engage with the gear 5 and the continued movement of .revolntion of the casing T.

, It will he obvious that when the eupptn't lt5 disengaged from the trunnion 1 the casing T will he Supported on the'hraeliet l5 and that at this time the chain 15 will support the dish receiving tray.

\Yhile 1 have illustrated and dcecrihed a particular et'nhotiliinent of my intention, it has merely been for the sake 'ul' co trenience and I- do not Winil to e limited tpgthat par ticular embodiment as it is obvious. that numerous changes may he made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit of the invention or exceeding the scope of the appended claims;

\Yhat I claim is 1., Ina dish washing machine, a casing having a permanent closed end and an op posite hinged end, a tray centrally arranged in the casing and having one end jont-naled in sai closed end and its opposite end journaled in said hinged end of the casing, and a flexible hanger connected with the casing and the tra to support the latter when the hinged en of the chsing is open.
