- Our invention relates to a dome for concrete structures and more particularly to domes of that character used in the construction of concrete floors, or the like wherein the domes arel arranged along supporting sotiits to form a mold for the floor joists and. intervening floor slabs; the principal object-of the invention being to provide a dome which may be assembled with other like domes to form a mold to receive the concrete and to so construct the same that it may' be collapsed after the concrete has sufficiently set thereabout and removed from the structure without necessitating the removal of the soffits and supporting studs.

Be it known that we, EDWARD C. MARQUA, HANS voN UNWERTH, and JOHN H. BYRD,
citizens of the United States, residing at- Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Domes for Concrete Structures; and we do declare the following to be 'a full, clear, and yexact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Our invention relates to a dome for concrete structures and more particularly to domes of that character used in the construction of concrete floors, or the like wherein the domes arel arranged along supporting sotiits to form a mold for the floor joists and. intervening floor slabs; the principal object-of the invention being to provide a dome which may be assembled with other like domes to form a mold to receive the concrete and to so construct the same that it may' be collapsed after the concrete has sufficiently set thereabout and removed from the structure without necessitating the removal of the soffits and supporting studs.

Likewise joined to the outer longitudinal -edges of the top sections 5?-5 by hinges 7 are the side members 3 3 which comprises longitudinally extending lupper and lower sections 8 8 joined by hinges 9, at the outer face ofthe dome to permit the said side members to collapse inwardly along the longitudinal joint and' to fold toward the top sections.
The side sections 3---3 are preferably v inclined outwardly toward their free ends so that the dome may b'e more easily removed from the concrete afterthe latter has become set and the lower edges of the side sections 8 and the upper longitudinal edges of the top sections 5-5 are rounded as shown respectively at 10 vandv 11, so that the parts may be collapsed without binding,y springing or otherwise causing injury -to the dome or Hoor surface.
ln order to support the side and 'top sections of the dome in functional position we provide the cross members or webs 4.-4 which are removed from the dome when the latter is to be collapsed or stored; the
said webs comprising vertically arrangedy plates having a length equal to the-inside width of the dome and diagonally cut end faces corresponding to `the outward slope given the side sections, so that the said webs may tions to hold the latter rigidly in their funct tightly against the top and side secextending longitudinally thereof to permit a downward collapse of the said top, side sections hingedly connected with the said top section at its longitudinal edges, each having a longitudinally hinged joint to permit inward collapse of the side sections, blocks secured to opposite inner faces of the lower side sections, removable web plates mounted transversely within the top and side sections each having longitudinally extending strips mounted thereon adapted for seating on said blocks to support said webs against the said top section, hooks mounted at opposite ends of said web plates, and eyes mounted in said side sections adapted to receive said hooks, for the purpose set forth.

In a dome for concrete structures, a downwardly collapsible top section having rounded longitudinal edges, side sections hinged to the top section and-collapsible inwardly along a longitudinal joint in said side sections, each of said side sections having a rounded lower edge, for the purpose set forth. -v
