To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMAN G. TEN- rronnrn, citizen of the United States, residing at Beaumont, in the county of Jetferson and State or Texas, have invented certain new and usefol improvements in Form- Holders and vialiliesg and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable othersskilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to building constructions and particularly to a form holder and wall tie for use in the construction of .concrete or other plastic formed structures in which temporary molds or forms are employed to receive the plastic material Which is subsequently permitted to set and harden to form the desired finished wall or cast, and relates particularly to a form holder and wall tie as disclosed in my Letters Patent May 1 1917, Number 1,22%,810.
The form of the tie holder illustrated in the above mentioned Letters Patent is provided on one of its sides with a plurality of notches each of a width substantially equal to thethicknes's of the mold section there being a pair of the notches adjacent the ends of the bar of tie and also a central pair of spaced notches which were formed between central downwardly projecting portions forming walls of the central notches. It is one of the objcctsof the present invention to improve this tie and form holder by eliminating the central projecting por tion and forming a single slot with uninterruptedly facing side walls against which the inner mold members are adapted to be wedged and held in position as determined by the spacing of the shoulders by the central single slot.
It is a further object of the invention to reduce the weight of the form holder and walltie to therefore lessen the cost of construction of the same. It is also an object of the present invention to provide such a form holder and wall tie as will enable it to be assembled with more facility in the erection oi the form and which will be more convenient to handle for the reason that the single central space enables emplacement of the tie or form holder over the upper edges of the inner form sections with greater facility andease of operation than is posslble, when the bars are formed with two central notches which has each a width substantially equal to the thickness of the mold section.
A further object of the present invention is to provide for the secure wedging of the mold-sections in. position against the opposed faces at the ends of the central slot and to that end I provide a wedging means of suitable construction whereby the sections are firmly and immovably held against their respective seats or shoulders at the sides of the central slot.
With the above objects in view and others which will be readily manifest in the fol lowing specification and which will be clear to those skilled in the art, the present invention consists of a rigid and preferably unitary form holder and wall tie as more fully hereinafter described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings and particularly set forth in the appended claims, in

It will be understood that my presen invention provides for the erection of a suitable concrete mold or form as illustrated in Fig. l, which may comprise outer section 2 of any suitable dimensions whiz la the outer surface of the wall 3 for @nce and also provides for the holding in posiiimer mold sections ing rests against f 'the-superposed sections 2 are supported.

The tie contemplated in this invention consists of a substantially flat rectangular bar 5 having adjacent its ends on one side, seats 6 of a width approximating the thickness of the outer mold section 2 for instance so,that when the bar is applied to the top edges of the sections as shown in Fig. 1 the latter will be engaged by the seats 6--6 and held against inward or outer movement. The present invention more particularly consists in the provision of a single, central, elongated, 'slot or recess 6 having uninterruptedly opposing side surfaces 8 forming respective seats for the adjacent inner. or central mold sections 10-10 utilized to form a hollow wall.
In this form of invention the tie 5 is applied tothe upper edges of a plurality of mold-sections in the erection of a concrete wall and the inner mold-sections are held firmly against the seat edges 8' by any suitable wedging means which may be introduced between the inner sections 1010 to force the sections firmly and positively in place against the sides of the central slot 6 and will hold them into proper position and spaced relations. One form of wedging means is illustrated herein as comprising a pair, of wedge blocks for each tie 5 the blocks 15 being of suitable width and length and angular form as illustrated in Fig. 4, one of the blocks being adapted to be nailed to one of the inner mold sections as at 16 while the other block at 15 is adapted to be driven firmly in between the incline surface of one block at 15 and the adjacent surface of the inner mold section to force these sections into position against the side faces of bar the seats 6 are formed After the form has hardened in the mold the removable wedge or wedges or blocks 15 may be driven out and the sections knocked down and removed for use in other positions in the construction leaving the ,wall tie 5 embedded in position the heads of which ties are adapted to be removed at any time during the erection of the building by a blow from a hammer or other convenient tool to leave the ends flush to the surface suitable manner, although I have found that they may be cast at a comparatively low cost.
\Vhat is claimed is:
l. A concrete form holder and wall tie consisting of a bar having on one side, near each end, projecting shoulders having outwardly facing seats and on the same side projections having spaced, directly facing shoulders to receive a pair of inner moldsections adapted to be secured by lateral pressure upon the seats and adjustable means for securing the inner sections against their seats.
2. A concrete form holder and wall tie consisting of a bar having on one side, near each end, projecting shoulders having outwardly facing seats and on the same side projections having spaced inwardly and directly facing shoulders for a pair of inner mold-sections adaptedto be secured by, lateral pressure upon the seats, and adjustable fastening means insertiblebetween the said inner sections to hold the same in proper position and apart against said shoulders- 3. A concrete form holder and wall tie consisting of a bar having on one side, near each end, a pair of facing seats to receive each a mold member and on the same side a pair of spaced facing shoulders for a pair of, inner mold-Sections adapted to be secured by lateral pressure upon the respective seats, the ends of the bar having severable heads with bases projecting from opposite sides of the bar and forming seats and adjustable means for securing the inner sections against their seats.
4. A concrete form holder and wall tie consisting of a bar having on one side, near each end, projecting shoulders forming seats to receive each a mold member and on the same side an elongated seat formed between a pair of opposite shoulders for a pair of inner mold-sections adapted to be secured by lateral pressure upon the seats, and adjustable means insertible between the said sections to hold the same in proper position and apart.
5. A moldand walI tie consisting of a relatively flat body having one face provided near each end with a narrow slot to substantially fit the edge of a mold section 5 and provided between said slots with a wider slot to receive a pair of adjacent inner 7 HER-MAN G. TENHOLDER.
