H. P. WRIGHT. AUTOMATIC PRESSURE ROLL RELEASE FOR CLGTHES WRINGERS. APPLSCATION FILED JAN,12. i911.
1 949@ lh-z-tented Feb. 5, 1918,
,. J 1.14 Amina CIK push button haring a. heed 23 and e. bifur" cated lower end 24- which is adopted to embrace the sections li und 1:2 of the pressure bar 10,' the turcetions being epertured to receive the pivot 13 iior pivotally connecting the operating member to the breekuble bur sothet when e downward pressure is exerted on the operating member 22 the sections of lthe pressure ber will be moved in respect to each other so as to throw the bar into the ositiou es shown in dotted' lines in Fig. l which draws the bearing plates out from under the pressure screws so es to bring the reduced portions of the bor in aline'ment with the. pressure screwswhich allows the pressure springs to expend to release the presso re relis.
pressure on the pressure relis. lThe operating member 22 is held in position es shown in Fig. l by e liftiu d spring 25 surrounding the operating member above the top bar. #Secured to the under side or the top ber 21 to' each side of the operating member 22 is a depending bracket 2S in which is pivotslly mounted s lever 27 having e fork et its inner end, the urnas of which ere slotted and are pivotelly mounted on oppositely disposed studs 29curricd by the operating member 22 es clearly shown'in Fig. 2, these levers 2'4" being so arranged that the forks formed et the inner ends thereotl embrace the operating' member and are connected thereto in e. manner that when the outer ends of the levers nrc raised the inner ends will be forced downwardly so es to curry the. operating meniber @downwardly so es to breuk the sectional pressure bur. Pivot-illy con-- nected to 'the outer end of each lever 2T is ey releasing member 3Q which extends down along; side of the vside bers Zot the wringer frame und is provided with a. forked portion 3i. which embraces the shaft 6 of theupper pressure roll 6 and is normally held slightly obere the shaft so us to allow the pressure rolls. to separate in wringing clothes.
l/Vheu the pressure roils are seperated beyoud the ordinary distance of travel in wringing clothes by the insertion of u for eign object, the releasing bers 30 are raised. so its to rock the-levers :27 on their pivots which 'forces the operating member downvuri'lly und breaks the pressure bur which in:unntuueously releases 'the pressure on the in the operation of struction of uutonmtic f-:uming that the ports .sbownfin full lines my improved conpressure release usure in the position :1s in Fig. l when :i thick bunch oi' clothes drawn bctwceil the pres- ,uo-c rolls 5" one? ii vthe upper pressure roli 1" is moved unimi-diy beyond the ordinary disfunrfe rif truif'rl und mises the releasing' bers :in wl forces the oper ,tuur member 32 downwm ily tl'n'oup'h tbcinorliiun of the Ici/ers und moves the sections of thebreuii'uolc into the position as shown in -by un operating n'icmbcr by the sessies dotted lines in Fig. 1 so as to move` the ends of the breukuble bar out of Contact with the pressure screws which allows the pressure springs to expend and release the pressure on the pressure rolls. After the pressure hu's been released by unscrewing the pressure screws, the breekuble bur con be moved back into its normal position. In euse of the uutomatic releasing mechanism failing to work, the operator can readily strike the head of the operating member so as to breuk the pressure bur and release the pressure.
From 'the foregoing description it willbe secu .that l hai-ve provided a clothes Wringcr with :1n automatic pressure release in which u breathable pressure bar is substituted for the ordinarir rigid bar now in use in clothes wringers ot this character which is broken ubnoriuul separation ot' the pressure rolls1 so as to instantaneously release the pressure on the pressure rolls in case of u'foreign object or un operators hund being drawn between the sume.
