BUILINGr CONSTRUCTION.
Specification of Letters Patent.

Application led August 31, 1917, Serial No. 189,128.
To all 'whom t may concern;
Beit known that we, ROBERT W. SCHWEIM- LER and PAUL A.' POULALION, citizens of the 'United States, and residents of Wheeling, in the county of Ohio and State of West Virginia, have invented new and useful Improvements in Building Constructions, of
which the following is a specification.
l il
Our invention is an improvement in building construction, and has Vfor its object to provide means in connection with floors and walls composed of concrete blocks, metal forms, gypsum blocks, hollow tiles or the like, for use as a guide or leveling point to assure a uniform thickness of floor, and as a support and nailing block for floor sleepers or the like.
ln the drawings:
ligure l is a perspective view of one of the blocks;
Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical section of a complete floor;
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section.
In the present embodiment of the invention, the improvement is shown in Hoor construction,` the floor consisting of series of blocks which are laid in courses, as shown in Fig., 2..
The top of the block has at the center of the top a boss or block 3 extending 11pwardly, and of a depth which will bring the top of the boss to the level of the plastic portion of the floor indicated at l; As shown in Fig. 2, the blocks are laid in courses, with the courses alongside each other, and the tops of the bosses 3 are at the same level, forming a guide for the floor of plastic material 4f, and insuring the level of the floor and absolute uniformity.
The sleepers 5 for the floor may be laid directly upon the bosses 3 and nailed thereto, and the finished floor 6 is laid upon the sleepers in the usual manner.
The blocks may be tied together by reinforcing rods indicated at 7, which are laid at opposite sides of the bosses 3, and are secured to the blocks by angle nails 8.
While the improved blocks are shown in floor construction, it is obvious that they might be used in wall or ceiling construction with equal facility, the bosses forming a guide for the laying of the plaster. The bosses may be made integral with the block .as shown, or may be made separate and con nected thereto in any suitable or desirable manner.
ln; wall and ceiling constructions, the blocks will be made of a composition which will require only a white linish coat of plaster, indicated at 9, on the under sides of the blocks.
We claim:
ln building construction, a series of corn.- position blocks adapted to be laid in courses, and each having at approximately the center thereof a boss or lug adapted to form a leveling guide for a floor of plastic material capable of hardening and to act as a nailing block for sleepers or the like, the blocks being tied together transversely of the series by tie rods arranged at opposite sides of the bosses and secured to the blocks.
