What is claimed as new is: 1. 1n a euttmg torch, the combination with a handle having a grip with. a tore and aft slot forwardly ot' the portion grasped by the hand and conduits for the gases including a cutting oxygen conduit, of a valve for opening and closing said conduit inside the handle in rear of said slot., a trigger pivoted on a transverse axis inside the grip and having its finger portion projecting through said fore and aft slot for movement longitudinally of the grip, and connections inside the grip whereby rearward movement of the trigger unseats the valve.
ln a cutting torch having a handle and conduits for the gases, the combination ot a valve for opening and closing one of the conduits, a fore and att' operating trigger piv oted upon a fixed transverse axis in the handle, a longitudinal thrust member for openingthe valve, and means operable by the trigger and constructed to be carried rovtatively past a center to operate said thrust member and to hold the sami and the valve in the open condition.
3. ln a cutting torch having a handle and conduits for the gases, the combination of a longitudinally movable valve in the handle for opening and closing the cutting oxygen conduit. a longitudinally movable trigger projecting from the handle, and a toggle connection between the trigger and valve.
4. ln a cutting torch having a handle and conduits for the gases, the combination ot' a valve mounted for movement lengthwise of the rear part of the handle to open and close one. of the conduits, a spring to seat the valve, a fore and aft movable tinger-piece forwardlyT oi the valve, and a longitudinally disposed togglehnd rod inside the handle for opening the valve under the action of the linge1}) iece.
5. ln a cutting torch having a handle and conduits for the gases, the combination of a valve chamber in the rear part ott the handle, a valve therein movable lengthwise of the handle, a` spring in the chamber 'tor locking the valve, a thrust rod entering the chamber to open the valve, from which it is discon-v nected,'and' a linger-piece and self-locking toggle for operating said rod.
