To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LOUIS F. W. Mnnsn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Advertising-Displaying Machines and Ido here-v by declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descriptionot' the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. r

Myinvention'has for its object to provide a simple and etlicient means for presenting to view, one after another, a plurality of display cards or sheets having marked thereon, various different printed matter orpictorial illustrations. Generally stated, the

" The mechanism of the machine is placed 'WltlllIl a rectangular case 1. In the present illustration, the sight openings meat 2 and are as large as the interior of the casing, but the said case might; be provided with front and rear plates, both provided with suitable "sight openings. i 7 Mounted in suitable hearings on. the sides of the case 1 is an uppershaftB, fixed studs 4 and lower shafts 5 and 6. These tracksQ are located quite close to the inner sides of the adjacent sprockets, and theyare rigidly secured by brackets 10 secured thereto and to thesides of the case 1. I

v The front'lower shaft 5, at one outer end carries a spur pinion 5 that meshes with an intermediate spur pinion 11 journaled on the outside of the case. The intermediate pinion 11' meshes with a larger complete spur gear-12 journaled to the outer side of the case 1 and mounted to rotate with a large segmental spur gear 12, which latter antermittently engages a spurpinion 13 carried on the outer end of a transverse roller shaft 14 that is journaled in the sides of the case l and carries a roller 14' that extends nearly, but notquit'e the entire distance between the laterally spaced chains 8.

upper portions of said belts and t0 zdelillcrl the same back to the said belts, and escapement mechanism controlling the delivery of said cards, one at a time, from said tracks back onto said belts.

5. In a machine of the kind described, the combination with display cards having rods projecting from the sides of their upper and lower edges, of inclined tracks on which the uppermost rods of saiddisplay cards normally rest, endless carrier belts movable around said inclined tracks, hooks on said belts for receiving the. ends of the upper rods as they pass from said tracks to said belts and operative to deliver the said upper rods back onto said tracks, and an intermittently driven roller having hooks engageable with the lower rods of said cards to wind up the same while the cards are being rolled by said belt toward said roller, but to release the same when the cards have been moved past the said roller.

In a machine of the kind described, the combination with display cards having rods projecting from the sides of their upper and lower edges, of inclined tracks on Whichthe uppermost rods of said display cards normally rest, endless carrier belts movable around said inclined tracks, hooks on said belts for receiving the ends of the upper rods as they pass from said tracks to saidbelts and operative to deliver the said upper rods back onto said tracks, an intermittently driven roller having hooks engageable with the lower rods of said cards to wind up the same while the cards are being rolled by said belt toward said roller, but to release the same when the cards have been moved past the said roller, and belt actuated escapement devices controlling the delivery of said cards from said tracks to the catch hooks of said belts.
