This invention hasreferenccito apparatus for automatically exchanging incandescent bodies for gas flame burners 1n an incandescent gas light arrangemcntofthe kind inwhich an additional .or yreserve incandescent body, by the action of the burnerflame upon a releasing device is automatically rendered activewhen a previously, active incandescent body breaks. For this purpose yithas been proposed to employ n. pin or the likeof a materialV which isburnt, melted'or weakened by the influenceI ofheat, and which coperates with a stop `that keeps the additionalv incandescentbody in its placefbut whichV is destroyed when played uponby the burnerl flame so that the stop is released and allows movementof the additional orreserve incandescent body tothe plane of the incandescent body wliich previously was active.
The invention has 4for vobject .to provide simple-'and 4eflicient apparatus of the said kind.
A construction of apparatus embodying the invention is shown on the accompanying drawing by way of example, Figure 1 showing the l apparatus in vertical sect-ion; andev Fig. 2 showing it in transverse section, certain parts being shown in plan.
A number of frames 1, 2, 3, 4, each carrying an incandescent body 5, are provided in a cylindrical casing 6 located below the burner 7. The frames l, 2, 3, 4, comprise bars, jointed at their lower ends to the casing 6 by means of parallel links 8 and 9, whereby each frame receives a parallel movement in aradial direction simultaneously as it is raised or lowered.
One of the links 8 or 9 of each frame carries a roller 10 that rests on a track 11, part of which forms a cam 12. The track 11 is carried by a. support 13, which can rotate on a central pivot 14 at the lower part of the casing 6. The support 13 together with the track 11 may be rotated by means of any suitable device for example by means of a l Specification of Letters'klatent; PatentedD'eQ 25V 1917,

15 in the example.shown,constantlyvtends to rotate'the track farther andto liftthe frame' higher but is lprevented from ydoing so .the burner 7 the incandescent body 5 of the frame 1 will glow, if however said incandescent body breaks, the llame in the burner 7 will impinge upon the pin 23 so that it will be consumed or destroyed in any other manner. The spring 22 can then draw the frame member 18 down so that the holder 19 of the incandescent body will be released from the burner member 20, and will move own into the dotted line position shown in |The track 11 can then continue its movement-whereby the highest point of the cam part 12 passes beneath the roller 10 and lifts the frame farther upward, whereafter the frame 1 sinks and resumes its original position on the horizontal part of the track 11. Simultaneously the frame 2, the roller 10 of which is situated at the beginning of the cam 12, is raised upward by the cam, whereby the same simultaneously moves radially toward the center of the casing 6, so that at last it will take the same position as the frame 1 previously had right under the burner 7, and surrounding the burner part 20 with the holder 19 of the incandescent body. The frame 2 is then prevented by said burner member from being further raised so that the further movement of the track 11 is prevented before the highest point of the -cam has passed beneath the roller 10.
When, as in the construction shown, four frames, each carrying an incandescent body, are employed, the cam part 12 extends over a fourth of the periphery of the track 11, whereas the remaining part of the track 11 is horizontal. An incandescent body will consequently enter in position beneath the burner at each'quarter of aV revolution of the track 11. When more or less incandescent bodies are employed, the cam part 12 will be vcorrespondingly arranged.
Having now fully described my invention what I claim is:
1. In an apparatus for exchanging incandescent bodies, a burner, an incandescent body, an additional incandescent body, means for automatically bringing said body into active position by the influence of the burner flame, a releasing device for said additional body, a frame for said body, comprising a link and lever system, a driving device` actuating said system, and means for controlling the action ofsaid driving system.
2. In an apparatus for exchanging incandescent bodies, a burner, an incandescent body, an additional incandescent body, means for automatically bringing said body into active position by the influence of the burner flame, a releasing device for said additional body, a holder for said body, a driving device actuating said holder, comprising a cam for moving the additional incandescent body in and out of engagement with the burner.
3. In an apparatus for exchanging incandescent bodies, a burner, an incandescent body, an additional incandescent body, means for automatically bringing said body into active position by the iniuence of the burner flame, a releasing device for the additional body, a frame for said body, comprising a bar, articulated by parallel links to a casing, and a rotating cam, actuating the additional incandescent body for moving the same in and out'of engagement with the burner,
4. In an apparatus for exchanging incandescent bodies, a burner, an incandescent body, a frame for said body, and a holder for the body, movable on the frame, and kept in engagement with the burner by means of a pin, adapted to be destroyed by the llame of the burner.
5. In an apparatus for exchanging incandescent bodies, a burner,` an incandescent body, a holder for said body, fixed to a movable member, a spring actuating said member, and a pin, tending to keep the holder in engagement with the burner against the action of said spring and adapted to be destroyed by the burner liame.
6. In an apparatus for exchanging incandescent bodies, a burner, an incandescent body, a plurality of frames, carrying additional incandescent bodies and their holders, a casing, to which said frames are articulated, and a rotating track, comprising a cam in engagement with said frames.
