A. HACKNEY.
BARBECUE STOVE. APPLICATION HLVED FEB. I7, 1917.
.|.,250,861.V P 4 Patented B66181917.
INVENTOR M A TT@ R N ANDREW HACKNEY, 0F PORTAGEVILLE, MISSOURI.
BARBECUE-STOVE.
Application led February 17, 1917.
To (1U whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, ANDREW HACK NEY, a citizen Vof the United States. residing at Po1tagcvillc,in the county of New Madrid and State of Missouri, have invented new and useful Improvements in Barbecue- Stoves, of which the following is a speci vfcation.
This invention relates to portable stoves.
The object of the present invention is to provide a stove which may be readily transported from place to place and easily and lquickly set up in position for use.
Another object of the invention is to provide astove of the above character which is primarily intended for use at barbecues and isfcapablepof roasting a. hog or other animal which may be placed thereon, the said stove 'being so constructed that when not' in use may be readily taken apart and eonven iently packed for storage or shipment.
llVith the above and other objects .in View the invention consists of the following novel combination and arrangement of parts, hereinafter more fully described and illus -trateld `in the accompanying drawings;
line 4-4 of Fig. 2.
Referring specifically to the drawings, wherein is shown the preferred embodiment of the invention, the numeral 1 designates the side sections of the stove, each of said sections being formed alike. The sections 1 have secured at each end by means of a ,curled portion 2 supporting legs 3, these legs being slightly` longer than the height of the side sections in orderthat the stove may be supported at a convenient distance above the ground. The side sections are provided `with longitudinal flanges 4, which form supports for the bottom section 5 and the Specification of Letters Patent.
'Patented Dec. 18. 1917.
Sera] No, 14.9;273.
end sections (3the said bottom section resting upon the supporting flanges 4, while-the end sections restupon the end of the' bottom section. Each of the end sections 6 are provided wth openings which are adapted to be closed by means of hinged doors 8, these openings providing means for the insertion ot' fuel into the stove, while the doors regllatc the draft therethrough.
The stove is further provided with a. removable grate section 9, the said section comprising end bars 10 and longitudinal connecting bars 11, the whole comprising a rectangular frame provided with intermediate longitudinally extending grate bars. This' grate in addition to providing means Afor supporting the animal above" the fire also provides means for locking the various sections of the stove in position for use. To this end the slde sections l are formed with locking flanges 12, these flanges being formed b v turning over the upper longitudinal edges`- of the sections 1, in order that they may engage the outermost longitudinal bars 11 of the grate. The grate `is further provided at each end thereof with locking lugs 13, 'the Y said lugs extending downwardly from the end bars 10 and engaging the inner upper edges of the end sections 6 for the purpose of preventing the inward movement of 4these sections. The end sections 6 are held against loutward movement by means of the portions 2 forming shoulders let against `which the end sections 6 are adapted to engage.
It is thought from the foregoing descrip tion when "taken in connection with the accompanying drawings that the construction, operation and advantages of the invention will be apparent and that a further description is unnecessary.
Having deseribed'the invention, Wliat'iI claim, is;
1. A portable stove comprising a reciban# gular receptacle formed of Lseparable side and end sections, a removable bottom'section, supporting legscarried by said side sections, said legs being secured to said side sections by curling the ends of the said sections aiounr'i the saine, the curled portions thus formed forming retaining shoulders forV the end sections, a 'removable grate 4emotion and means whereby seid grate section will lock the variou'sfpnrts of the stove inl position for use.
2. A portable stove comprising -a rectan- 5 guiar receptacle formed of, arable side' and end.4 sections, inturned 10c ing flanges provided along the upper edge of mich 0f the side sections, a renfovnble bottom Section, a
' ifsaoel removable grate section engugeume with the v locking fianges ofthe side sections and lugs 10 carrie by each end of the grate section for engagement with the end sections, whereby, said gratevsection will lock' the` side and end sections in setup ositiony In testimony whereo I affix my signature.l lo
