Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
- ISIDOR POPPER, PHILLIPSBURG, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN COMPOUNDS-FOR WRITING-FLUID.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 125,077, dated March 26, 187?.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Ismon Porrnn, of
-Phillipsburg, in the county of Warren and State of New Jersey, haveinv'entcd anew and Improved Compound for Writing-Fluid; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full,
clear, and exact description thereof, which will v enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a-writing fluid made of oil, resin, soap, carbon, and kerosene, mixed together in such proportion that a fluid is obtained which flows readily from the pen, and
cannot be removed from the paper by acids or other chemicals without destroying the text- \lllG of the paper or leaving a mark or spot showing clearly that the writing has been tampered with. The ingredients which I 'use for my writingfluid are mixed together in about the followin g proportion: Oil, (by preference linseed-0H,) fifteen parts; resin, six parts; soap, two parts; carbon, (by preference lam pblaok,) four parts; kerosene, one hundred and ninety parts.
The oil, resin, soap, and carbon are first united by boiling them together until a homogenous mass is produced, and thenthe kerosene is gradually stirred in, either hot or cold, to impart to the mixture the desired consistency for writing-fluid.
When thus prepared my fluid flows'fr'eely from the pen, and words or characters written with the same cannot be removed by acids or other chemicals without leaving a spot on the paper or destroying its texture; so that my] writing-fluid is of particular value for filling out checks or other documents of value, where an alteration, when successfully made, proves to be a source of great loss.
What Iclaim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
An improved writing-fluid, formed of a compound consisting of oil, resin, soap, carbon, and kerosene, compounded in themanner and about in the proportions specified.
This specification signed by me this 22d day 7 of February, 1872. t ISIDORPOP PER.
