U I A so" The rod 9 is-secni'ed at its ends in vcollars I machine or anything else that is to be used at infrequent intervals. This shelf has at one corner a stem 18 which sits down in a socketl.) in the top of hollow leg 3, to permit the shelf to be swung.

The stem 18 is secured to. a bracket 20 upon which the shelf 17 is fixed, said bracket having a boss 21 which rests upon the top edge of the leg 3. The shelf 17' with the multiplying machine or other object thereon, may normally occupy the full line position at Fig. l, where it is off from the leaf 6, and out of the way; but whenever desired, it may be swung to the dotted line position to bring the multiplying machine or the like near the front of the stand and to accessible position.

In the top of the leg 3 there are notches 22, 23, into either of which may project a pin 24 fixed on the stem 18 to lock the shelf against accidental rotation from either the full line or dotted line position shown in Fig. 1. It will be seen that the shelfmay be easilyremoved by simply withdrawing the stem 18 from its socket.

Variations may be resorted to within the scope of the invention, and portions of the improvements may be used without others.

7 Having thus described my invention, I claim:

1. The combination with a stand having legs, and clamps mounted on said legs for independent vertical adjustment; of a rod supported by said clamps; and a drop leaf having ears pivotally engaging said rod.

2. The combination with a stand having legs, and clamps mounted on said legs for independent vertical adjustment; of a rod supported by said clamps; a drop leaf pivoted on said rod; a brace pivoted at one end to said leaf; and a socket carried by said stand to removably receive the other end of said brace when said leaf is in horizontal position.

3. The combination with a stand having legs, of a rod, clamps on said legs and supporting said rod, said clamps adjustable up and down independently of each other, and a leaf having ears provided with open slots to engage said rod to permit the leaf to swing up and down. I

7. The combination with a stand having legs,of a rod, clamps on said legs and supporting said rod, said clamps adjustable up and down independently of each other, a leaf having ears provided with open slots to engage said rod to permit the leaf to swing up and down, and a brace on said leaf to engage a portion of said stand; said stand having a socket in which the lower end of the brace is inserted to support the leaf; the brace being pivoted to the leaf to fold thereagainst when the leaf is detached and set aside; said stand having a lower cross brace and said socket being so cured upon said cross brace.

8. The combination with a stand for supporting a machine; of a drop leaf pivoted I,

to said stand for movement into and out of an effective horizontal position; a brace pivoted at one end to said leaf and having its other end adapted for removable engagement with the stand to support said leaf in such position; and an auxiliary instrumentsupporting shelf pivoted to said stand for movement horizontally into and out of an effective forward position in which it overlies said leaf, when the latter occupies its horizontal position, and in which it is disposed in juxtaposition to the machine on said stand; said leaf, when in said position, serving to support work-pieces to be use-: in connection both with said machine and with the instrument on said shelf. I

9. The combination with a stand for supporting the principal machine, of a leaf hinged to said stand so as to move from an ineffective to an eflective position, and a shelf for supporting an auxiliary machine operable at intervals in cooperation with the principal machine, said shelf being movable from an ineffective position to an effective position in which it is within reach of the operator at the front of said stand and in which it is superposed with respect to said leaf, said shelf occupying but a fraction of the projected area of said leaf so as with the principal machine, said shelf haV-' to leaye exposed a considerable portion of the surface of said leaf for, supporting papersin use with the auxiliary machine on said shelf and with the principal machine on said stand. c
