TELEPHONE APPARATUS.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LUDWIG L. LUNDGREN, a resident of Youngstown, in the county of Mahoning and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Telephone Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain improve ments in telephone receivers, and has for its object, in part, to provide a device of this general character of a simple and compara tively inexpensive nature, having a novel arrangement of sound conveying means whereby the transmission of the reproduced sounds coming to the ear is facilitated in such a,
manner as to permit the same to be, heard with greater distinctness imder ordinary conditions.
The invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of the several parts of the improved telephone receiver.
In order that my improvements may be the better understood, I have illustrated the same in the accompanying drawings where- 1n- Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device.

By referring to the drawings it will be;
seen that the apparatus consists of a covering for the end of a common telephone receiver and is held in position by an elastic band A. which fits snugly over the end of the receiver. B is a disk of wood or any suitable material with a hole H in the center to transmit the sound from the telephone receiver.
C is a soft rubber plate acting as a packing between the apparatus and the telephone receiver. The plate is forced into the groove to a greater 01' less extent depending upon desired.

M is a circular, concave groove formed in the back side of the disk B so as to make the apparatus adjustable to any make of telephone receivers. This adjustment is made possible by reason of the rubber plate being elastic and thereby admitting of being forced into the circular concave groove above mentioned. N is the ear piece fastened within the hole H. See Fig. 3. P is the portion of the ear piece N which is inserted within. the hole H of the disk B. See Fig. 5.
Having thus described my invention I claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent:
In a telephone receiver an apparatus consisting of an elastic band to be fitted snugly over the end of a common telephone receiver, this band carrying a disk, a central earpiece fastened to the disk, a hole extending from the central portion of the disk to its circumference, a tube inserted Within said hole and at the end of this tube an earpiece, a circularconoave groove formed in the side of the disk. .remote from the earpiece, a rubber plate attached within the circular concave groove.
