To all whom may concern:
Be it known that 1 PAUL W. llvrsenur, a citizen of the United States, residing at ldagrove, in the county of lda and State of liowa, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Electrical 555witch-Locks of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in electrical switch locks.
The primary object of this invention resides in the provision of an electrical switch lock which will be of improved construction as well as cheap to manufacture.
rtnother object of the invention resides in the provision of a switch lock of this charac-- ter which will be composed of a minimum number of parts, and in which the rotary members may be readily moved to inoperative position to prevent the switch from be ing closed except by a party familiar with the combination.
The invention has for a further object the provision of a switch lock of this character which will be of such construction that the rotary members may readily be adjusted with respect to one another to form various combinations.
With these general objects in view and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood the same consists in the novel combination and ar angement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the appended claims.

lteferring more in detail to the drawing, 1 designates a casing of conventional form, within which is positioned a post 2 having a lower rotary member 3 and an upper rotary member lmounted thereon, said members 3 and l: having inwardly directed radial slots 5 formed therein and adapted to register at times. The lower rotary member 3 has an arcuate concentric groove 6 formed in its upper face to receive the point of the operating screw 7 which may be secured in any one of the openings 8 arranged concentric in the upper rotary member t as will be readily understood by referring to Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings. The lower disk is loosclymounted upon the post 2 and normally held against rotation by means of a curved leaf spring 9, engaged with the periphery thereof and mounted upon a suitable post 10 positioned in the case 1. The upper disk t is keyed to the post 2, as shown at 11 and said post 2 is prevented from being withdrawn from the case 1 by means of a collar 12 engaged around the same between the upper rotary member l and the top of the casing 1. The post 2 extends through the top of the casing 1 and has a suitable head 13 formed thereon and a pointer 14L projecting laterally from the same adjacent said head 13. The pointer 14-. is adapted to ride over the dial 15 provided upon the outer face of the case 1 to indicate the position of the rotary members 3 and i. It will be readily seen that by changing the position of the screw 7 in the rotary member a, the combination will be changed, owing to the fact that the screw 7 must travel around the groove 6 and connect the end walls of the latter to rotate the lower rotary member 3. a
When the post 2 has been properly operated to bring the rotary member 3 to the proper position and the upper rotary member at to such position upon the same that the two slots 5 will register, the slidable member 16 may be moved within the casing l to force the reduced end 1? thereof into the registering slots 5, said slidable member 16 having a shank or standard 18 extending from its upper face and projecting through the elongated slot 19 in the top of the casing 1. This shank or standard 18 is preferably squared in cross section to prevent turning of the slidable spring operating member 16. The member 16 has an enlargement 20 ill curved that when the slidable member 16 is moved to operative position with the end 17 thereof engaged in the registering slots 5, said free end of the member will be forced into engagement with the switch post 26 to complete the circuit from said switch post 26 and the post 23. As soon as the slidable member 16 is in this position, the enlarge ment 20 will be pressed against the cur ed portion 2-; of the circuit closer or engaged in the seat 25, thereby holding this circuit closer in contact with the switch post 26. As soon as the slidable member 16 is withdrawn however, the portion of the circuit closer will engage with the side of the member 16 and the free end tiereof moved away from the switch post 26, thereby breaking the circuit. Upon a slight turn of the post 2 in either direction, at least one of the slots 5 Will be moved away from the ends 17 of the member 16 and thereby make it practically impossible for any party not familiar with the combination to again close the circuit. Pivotally mounted upon the upper end the binding post 26, is the switch leve which maybe engaged with any one or a plurality of binding posts 28 having wires 29 engaged therewith. Another wire 30 is connected with the post 23 and the wire 30 and wires 29 may be connected in any suit able well-known manner to the opposite poles of a battery or the like.
The member 16 has a dove-tailed lower portion 16 which is slidably engaged in the dove-tailed channel member 31 mounted upon the bottom of the casing l, as clearly shown in Fig. 6 of the drawings. This will serve to properly guide the member 16 and prevent upward movement of the same. It will be understood, howev s, that the upper dove tailed portion 16 is only opposite the main or body portion of the member 16 and is connected to the same by a neck portion 32.
From the foregoing, it will be apparent that I have provided an improved form of electrical switch lock which may be readily operated by an authorized party to complete any one or a number of circuits, but which is of such construction and operation to make it practically impossible for an un authorized person to close the switch.
l/Vhile the form of the invention herein shown and described is what is believed to be the preferred embodiment thereof, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without doparting from the spirit and scope of the in vent-ion as claimed.

An l ctrical switch lock comprising a casing; st rotatably mounted in said casing, rotary members mounted upon said post, one of said members being adapted to rotate with said post, means adjustable in said last-n'ientioncd member to rotate the romaining member at times, means for resiliently retaining the last-mentioned rotary member in normal position, said rotary mombers being provided with peripheral slots adapted to register at times, a. resilient circuit closing member, a slidablc member eugaged with the circuit closer and retained against accidental movement (hereby and adapted to operate said circuit closing member, a stationary contact for cooperation with the circuit closer, said slidable member being adapted to enter said slots when the latter are in registering position, and the last rotary membe is in. normal position, and means to indicate the position of said rotary members.

An electrical switch lock comprising a rotary member having a peripheral slot, a concentric arcuate groove in one face, a sec ond rotary member positioned upon the first-mentioned rotary member and provided with a plurality of concentricallyarranged openings, a member removably positioned in one of said openings and engaged in said groove, to rotate the first-mentioned rotary member, said second mentioned rotary memher being provided with a peripheral slot adapted to register with the peripheral slot of the first-mentioned rotary member, a supporting post for said rotary members, means for indicating when the slots in the disks are in registration, a resilient circuit closing member, and a slidable member adapted to enter said slots and operate said circuit closing member, the circuit closing member serving to retain the slidable member against accidental movement.

An electric switch comprising a casing, a plurality oi disks rotatably mounted therein and provided with peripheral slots, means for rotating the disks to bring the slots into registration, a stationary contact mounted in the casing, a movable contact also mounted in the casing, and a slidable member having ope 'ative engagement with the movable contact and adapted to be projected into the registering slots, the movable contact cooperating with the stationary contact to close an electrical circuit and always retaining the slidable, member against accidental movement.

An electric switch comprising a casing, a plurality of disks rotatably mounted therein and provided with peripheral slots, means iior rotating the disks to bring the slots into registration, a stationary contact mounted in the casing, a resilient contact also mounted in the casing, and a slidable member having operative engagement with the resilient contact and adapted to be projected into the registering slots, the resilient contact cooperating with the stationary contact to close an electrical circuit and always retaining the slidable member against accidental movement.

An electric switch comprising a casing having a longitudinal slot in one wall thereof, a plurality oi disks rotatably mounted in the casing provided with slots adapted for registration, means operated exteriorly of the casing for bringing the slots into registration, stationary and movable contact mounted in the casings, a slidable bolt also mounted in the casing and adapted to be projected into the registering slots, and for actuating the movable contact, said movable contact serving to hold said slidable block against accidental displacement, and an operating member carried by the slidable member movable in the longitudinal slot.
